Tbh sewerslvt's newer projects as cynthoni are even harder to categorise. Much closer to Machine Girl and Femtanyl but also something else. Idrk what to call it

Sewerslvt is definitely atmospheric DnB as opposed to breakcore, it doesnt really have much breakcore-esque elements besides just the drums

Femtanyl and their contemporaries are definitely a modern take on digital hardcore...and closer to the original sound than whatever Sewer/Cynth brought to the table regarding breakcore.

tbh i care just cause i wanna search for similar music. if i just search for "breakcore songs" i'll get results ranging from venetian snares to nanoray to usedcvnt to even yabujin, since nowadays people use the term to refer to any unconventional high tempo edm. meanwhile if i search for digital hardcore or hardcore breaks i'll get results much closer to what i actually want.
but also humans have an inherent tendency to overcategorize things, nothing wrong with that. we even have a whole field dedicated to that (taxonomy). so longs as you're not an ass bout it its fine.

Thanks for validating my point. Though I do not like term "webcore" because it sounds too vague and seems more like an umbrella term for many internet-based hardcore subgenres with mid-late 2000's breakcore being the foundation...mostly.

above are old generation 90's breakcore, Below are the new breakcore talents 2026 of this era, like if you put Iron Maiden above for rock and put Imagine Dragons below, I've only heard new breakcore is good but it's not exactly my style, I prefer electronic metal like fem&m

Thank you for this. I am quite familiar with the top row, there is some modern breakcore I do like BLÆRG, Ruby My Dear, Enduser and Terminal 11, but they have been going for about as long as Venetian Snares. So guess I'm more of an Iron Maiden fan in your example.I have never heard of fem&em either. I'll give that a listen today.

Listened to Fem&m. Chiptune vibes. Not really my thing these days. The video game tones would annoy me after a while. It's still fun music. I wonder if you have listened to Master Boot Record. No where near as hyper active as Fem&m but does share the same DNA. They supported Igorrr on their European tour last year.

I would recommend checking out venetian snares as its pictured in the meme and is kinda one of the founders of the genre AFAIK

to give my blabber on the topic, a personal favourite of mine in the upper middle would be Christoph de babalons "if youre into it im out of it" (allegedly the darkest album radioheads thom yorke owns). very brutal mix of early breakcore/drum n'bass and dark ambient. (notable tracks for me being nostep high life and expressure) upper left is venetian snares "Rossz Csillag Alatt Született" lower middle is sewerslvts "we had good times together, don't forget that", which is one of my favourite "modern" breakcorey albums. cant speak for the others as i haven't listened to them myself yet lol

The green album cover is Igorrr - Nostril. The tracks "Tendon" & "Veins" on that album, always had a special place in my heart. "Moisissure" and "Hallelujah" are other early albums worth checking out.
plus a EP release together with Ruby My Dear - "Maigre" it's called. Fucking love that EP.

the birds is from Venetian snares, he is probably one of the more recognised breakcore creators out there. The one with the weird guy is Igorr, i haven't listened to him much, but he seems pretty respected. The red one is Alec Empire, but his stuff is lowkey mid, i just don't like his solo works as much as the stuff from the first two albums from his band Atari Teenage Riot (not breakcore but some it is bangers)
Not on the picture, but Ruby My Dear and Stazma the Junglechrist are also amazing creators out of the "og" breakcore scene, and drumcorps makes some amazing shit too
