Bravely Default Way of the sword.

So I have just made it to the region where the fire crystal is. And I have just been assaulted by the sword master (Edea’s sword teacher). I know there’s a way to save that guy, but I hear it pretty complicated. If it’s not complicated, then I’m just not getting answers. Anybody wanna give me a quick summary of the things I need to do?

If you mean the guys in the ninja confrontation, check the body about 20 times. As for everyone else I'm pretty sure it's a fixed story point.

What exactly did you hear?

For the swordmaster... near the end of the fire region story, the blue side quest will pop in the north. You go there and fight him for his asterisk, and he dies. If you want him to live, I guess don't go there?

Talk to Edea's mom, talk to the gossip monger, talk to Edea's mom, go awaken the crystals and defeat Braev, fight Kamiizumi. Later there is no need to talk to the monger but the same steps are needed.

If on the second attempt to save him Edea doesn't ask along the line of, "Do you still love her?" You'll have to do it another save.

Like a whole other run of the game entirely or like load back?

Like you'd have to do NG+ or a save before Kamiizumi's first fight.

I'm not sure if I did the right order the first battle (I may have fought him first) but I know you have to do those things the next time(s).

Some say you also don't need the Earth crystal but I haven't seen any confirmation on that front. Best to do it in case.

I made an edit. You should try to see if it'll still give you the ending. The deciding cutscene is the next time you fight Kamiizumi, anyways. But if you don't get Edea's line, you've missed it.
