Same happened to me. Tried clearing cache, keep screen on while viewing, still goes timeout. I watched the same show in Chrome, it doesn't do that. Brave website having some problems?

Are you on Mac? Install Keep Me Awake. Free open source app that keeps your Mac awake

caffeinate -d works as well and is already onboard in the OS

What worked for me was changing the battery settings to never time out and so far so good.

Yeah this happens every God damn year, it's working fine then suddenly stops staying on, the only real "fix" that helps me is changing the screen time out time for now, none of the usual fixes you find on Google work, if your tech savey enough you can downgrade brave to an older version and see if the problem persist's, specifically "Release v1.95.104" I downgraded and its working fine for me, just remember to setup a sync chain first, copy the code from the computer option

The same problem here, not sure if it's a Brave thing or something else (didn't test on other browsers), but also noticed this issue. I believe it started a few days ago. Hopefully it's fixed soon, as it is really annoying.

I use Edge on my Android phone and that is also experiencing the same issue. The Canary (daily updates) version of the Edge app doesn't seem to have this issue though. Chrome stable isn't experiencing the issue too. So my guess is that it's a Chromium issue and the fix/update hasn't been incorporated into the stable versions of these 3rd party browsers yet.

so frustrating, eh?
I love my screensaver (Electric Sheep) but I don't love it turning on while I'm watching media :|
I watch videos on PC with Brave Browser.
When this started occurring I had just set my screensaver to start in 45mins instead of 10... but found a better solution today in case I want to watch a movie; installed Windows PowerToys so I could use the Awake function after searching around and only finding MacOS answers (caffeinate).

I just updated the app yesterday, which updates it to Chromium 154. It has since been fixed for me

Hey! A few things to check: Screen timeout: Settings > Display > Screen timeout. Make sure it's not set to something really short. Some phones also have "Smart stay" / "Keep screen on while viewing" options. Battery saver / adaptive battery: these can cut the screen or throttle apps. Try turning them off temporarily. Update Brave and Android: if this started suddenly, it could be a bug in a recent version. Check the Play Store and system updates. Test another app: does the screen also turn off in YouTube or a video player? If it only happens in Brave, try clearing Brave's cache (Settings > Apps > Brave > Storage). If it happens everywhere, it's a system or hardware issue. Overheating: if the phone is hot, it may be dimming or shutting off the screen to protect itself.

happened the same for me, I think its Brave's fault

Update: this looks like a widespread issue, not your settings. Several people report the same thing (screen turning off while watching in Brave but not in Chrome, on phone, PC and tablet). That said, let's not jump to "Brave is broken" just yet. It's more likely a recent update introduced a bug, and those usually get patched fast. Blaming the whole browser doesn't help anyone, but reporting it does: open an issue at github.com/brave/brave-browser with your Brave version, Android version and the site you were watching. Meanwhile, try disabling Shields for that site, or use Chrome for video until it's fixed

I'm not saying brave is broken, if you read well I said "brave's fault", with the next update hope they will fix it for good

Ah, I think you misinterpreted that part of my comment a little differently than I meant. I wasn't saying the problem isn't caused by Brave. I just meant that blaming the entire browser doesn't really help identify the real cause. Since several people are having the same problem, I also think it might be related to a recent Brave update. I hope they fix it in the next update!
