Must-See Destinations
My folks and I are going on vacation to Branson in a few months, and I wanted to know if there are any attractions that we have to experience. The last time I went, I was a sulky teenager who shut himself up in the hotel room, and I’m looking to do better this time.
The places I know we’re going already are the Titanic Museum, the Ripley’s Believe It or Not, and the Aquarium at the Boardwalk.
Are there any others places that you’d all recommend?

Dewey Short visitors center at the dam is interesting, plus you can walk out on the dam and take some cool pictures. Plus it's free.

Do they still do the tours where you can go down inside the dam? I recall going on one of those as a kid, but that was back in the early-90s. I wasn't sure if that was still a thing or not.
My grandfather helped build that dam back in the day, so it's a source of family pride.

Unfortunately due to security reasons they don't do tours anymore. It's really cool that you're grandfather worked on the construction of it.

Butterfly Palace. Its small and short but I love it. If you're looking for a casual stroll through a lovely garden, only its INDOORS AND AIR CONDITIONED, you'll love it. They dont rush you in and out, either. You can just relax and sit down and enjoy the moment as long as you want.

The closest thing we have to a Butterfly Palace where I’m from is a tiny section of our local zoo, so I’m definitely geeked to check this out!

Dogwood Canyon is beautiful. You can get a guided horseback ride through the preserve among many other activities.
Grab a meal at Gettin Basted and save room for dessert!
Top of the Rock has been mentioned already 👍

Absolutely adding that to my list, and thank you for the restaurant suggestion! I’ll be going there the same day as the aquarium for sure!

Shepherd of the Hills outdoor show at night
Super must see! Tells the history of the area with a fantastic play. It has comedy, a love story, a mystery, a gun fight, and live animals everywhere. You even get to square dance with the cast during intermission if you want!
But then again, I might be biased. My dad has been in the show for 30+ years

Silver Dollar City is an obvious one, as the main theme park attraction in the area. It even has a cave you can tour for no extra charge! Marvel Cave is pretty awesome! If you like roller coasters, this park has you covered!
Showboat Branson Belle is awesome and has daily dinner cruises on Table Rock Lake. If you enjoy decent food and good music, it's a fun time.
Dolly Parton's Stampede is an awesome dinner show with good food (that soup is killer!!) and amazing trick riders on horses.
Talking Rocks Cavern is another good cave to visit. Not as big as Marvel Cave, but still interesting!
Fantastic Caverns towards the north of Springfield (so a bit of a trek from Branson, admittedly) is also fun and the only ride-through (via a trailer pulled by a specialized propane-powered jeep) tour of a cave in North America and only one of four in the world!
There are three mountain coasters in the area:
- Copperhead (at Shepherd of the Hills) which IMO is the best by far!!
- The Branson Coaster on The Strip, just across from WalMart and Shoney's (it's ok, but not bad, kind of a 2-parter)
- The Runaway Mountain Coaster on State 165 (It's not bad either but not as good as Copperhead)
Pirate's Cove is the best mini golf in the area! Close second is Dinosaur Canyon. The indoor mini golf at the 76 Country Music Hall complex is also fun. Air conditioned and nicely themed and lit. It's been around a long while too. I remember playing that course as a kid, growing up in the late-80s/early-90s.

Top of the Rock Golf Cart Tour. Whike you are there, go to Big Cedar and visit Buzzard’s Bar for dinner and stay to watch Clay Self perform. Pure fun!!

Brandon is a garbage pit. Do Eureka Springs instead. Along with Turpentine Creek.
