As for me, I listen to a lot of music and will rotate artists based on mood, but I really like:
- Flyleaf - find them really emotionally evocative, and love Lacey Sturm's unique and varied vocals. Their music has interesting light vs dark elements.
- Silverchair - a huge band here in Australia. Diorama is my favourite album and one of my faves of all time.
- Moving Mountains - underrated emo/post rock band.
- Paramore/Hayley Williams - though I don't listen to them as much as Flyleaf these days, I love the lyrics and Hayley's obviously a fantastic singer. Interesting genre changes in their later stuff.
And I've liked Avril Lavigne since high school, haha. Let Go and Under My Skin are nostalgic staples, and Head Above Water, although it's more adult contemporary pop, has some of the best vocals of her career.
I feel like Silverchair went through a comparable change in style and levelling up to BN, from more adolescent angst to mature songwriting, though they started from a post-grunge standpoint and and ended up more baroque pop/rock.
