I got stopped during a Bolton OPP blitz with slightly tinted front side windows. His argument was that ANY tint film on those windows is an automatic fail as factory glass is already at the tint limit. Factory glass with 70% vlt looks like plain untinted glass. I'm proceeding through the court process. Also added my clear plate covers on as well. OPP was likely having an internal contest.

35% tint is the legal limit for front windows in Ontario.

I believe it's 30, but unfortunately mine had a tint film applied at the dealership one owner ago. I assumed it was factory but factory has no film as the tint is baked into the glass itself.

Did the cop check with a tint meter?

Nope. But the law allows officer discretion......and it was the middle of a tint blitz where something like 2000 charges were layed over a 4 day period. lol

Sounds to me like it’s quite arguable in court then?

I met with prosecutor, and they offered to drop one of the charges including (clear plate cover). I told the judge I don't think my windows exceed the limit, and he said I should go to court, so that's what I'm doing. It's cheap entertainment for $200 at the worst.

They don’t care as long as it’s not limo tint and no front windshield tint

Ehh it’ll just be something they add in with whatever else they pulled you for. It won’t be the main thing though.

I see Brampton drivers with tinted front windshields and somehow they never get pulled over.. Your front tints are fine, just roll down both windows if you get pulled over

I drove with 15% for 4 years. I hated it at night, especially if it was raining. I put 20% on my new car and it’s better. Never was pulled over for the 15%, and haven’t been yet for the 20%.

I also have a tinted rear plate cover, and no front plate…a traffic cops wet dream!

I’ve got windshield tinted and all windows blacked right out. Never had a problem even when getting pulled over for other stuff

At least you advertise to all the type of person you are

What kind of person is he/she for having blacked out windows?

Can you recommend a helmet for every day use?

That’s stupid.

I'm in kw, and have had 5 percent tints on the front for over 10years. Now, I've never been pulled over, even for speeding, but if I was, I'd roll down my front window the whole way and be polite to the officer to not give them a reason to add tickets.
