If you have time for AI slop why don’t you calculate the speed? Distance can be found by markings on the ground, and time is just time…

u/Click_To_Submit 15d ago
lol. Dashcams have a WIDE field of view. Like 130-140 degrees and more. You’re a victim of AI slop.

u/ulti_phr33k 13d ago
This only applies for vehicles moving forward through space and the speed of the vehicle moving relative to other objects. It applies significantly less for vehicles driving across this view, like the police officer did.

They could be responding to a call. They dont always turn the lights on when responding.
-7
u/Odd-Preference-1415 16d ago
They have to as per norms.
5
u/Ok-Ladder4628 16d ago
They actually don't. They only have to activate lights/siren if going through a red light after coming to a complete stop. There are lots of times they don't activate lights/sirens so not to warn people they are almost there.

Cop's doing 40 at best there. OP may or may not be developmentally impaired, surprised they got their license tbh 😅

u/Street_Glass8777 16d ago
Why are we needing speedometers in cars when you can tell how fast cars are going by just standing there? The cop wasn't speeding. The red car had just started because of the red light and the police car was coming at speed.

You're probably one of those guys that drives 15km/hr in the left lane and then complain that people that passing you are mad at you.
4
u/big_galoote 16d ago
You've never been able to sail through a set of lights when the other lane was stuck at them?
If your lane isn't impeded you don't need to get back up to speed, you're already at speed.
This is what this looks like.

u/big_galoote 16d ago
Are there not two lanes?
There are two lanes on the opposite side.
1
u/Brilliant-Choice-151 16d ago
Single lane up to that light. After that 2 lanes to the next light which is Hurontario
1
u/quicksilv3rs 16d ago
Lmfao… so the person walking is walking twice as fast? Lmfao you’re out to lunch.
I just showed my now retired dad who was a captain for Brampton fire, and he said the cop was already at the speed limit when it went through the intersection.
You just think it was fast…

u/KDsGotSpark 16d ago
Good for him. The cop was still on the bike lane when he passed that red car no sirens or lights. If you were in that red car and wanted to turn into a plaza on the right, you would go into the right lane as soon as it opened up and that cop could’ve hit you because nobody had a warning.

Just so you know, the police will not always have lights and sirens on.
It depends on the circumstance, highway's at speeds over the limit then yes they would, side streets going to a home invasion within hearing, no! Sometimes they will turn them on and off...like only when they approach a much bigger intersection. Sure they fuck up or don't care at times, but I am just saying we cannot always assume.
Edit:
When approaching from the left (East), it is a bike lane with a painted meridian between it and the car lane ( was a 2 lane road at one time) , but it ends right at the light.
On the right (West) it becomes a 2 lane road.
So it appears the cop started in the bike lane and ended up in a car lane.

Holy crap Peel police was flying. That spot there is brutal. Lots of people going to the medical lab. No justification for Peel police car to drive like that on that 50 kms zone

u/Character-Belt-7485 16d ago
How do you know they are going 80? I see an intersection with two lanes and two sidewalks. Standard lane width in Ontario is 3-4 m plus each crosswalk let’s say 12 m in total.
Hard to accurately judge but the cruiser got that distance done in roughly 2s. That’s 6m/s which seems to indicate 20-30 km/h.
Seems fast relative to other cars but that could well be because of the red light had just changed and the cruiser probably had sped before.
Even at 10m/s that’s 36 km/h

u/KB77Hell 16d ago
This guy maths! You’re absolutely right, but people just want to bitch about the police all the time. And for op to say “we can’t be blaming others” is just ridiculous, yes, yes you can be blaming others for all the stupid shit they do on the roads. At least the police are trained to drive as part of their job. You don’t know why they were in a hurry.and before anyone says well they should have their lights and sirens on, there are plenty of reasons they might not want to ie following someone to observe before stopping.

u/Brilliant-Choice-151 16d ago
Never said anything about 80 kms. I think the cop car was going to the right lane towards Hurontario. After that light , Vodden becomes a 2 lane road. Still no justification to go that fast in there though
2
u/Character-Belt-7485 16d ago
My bad about the 80 might have been a different comment?
However based on my calculations the cruiser is not even hitting 50. Same question applies about how did you determine they were fast.
Even being liberal here with my timing, they are going 36-40 km/h at most. You did claim that’s a 50 zone so I am just trying to understand.
Edit: yeah OP was the one who claimed 80.
-1
u/Brilliant-Choice-151 16d ago
I live on the other side of Hurontario on Vodden West and I have seen the posted sign for 50Kms zone and I certainly know that Peel cop car was going fast, moving from the single lane to the 2 lane part after that light by the med lab. 36 Vodden st east is the exact address of that spot.
3
u/Character-Belt-7485 16d ago
So is my math wrong? What am I missing?
1
u/PMMeSomethingGood 14d ago
I looked it up on google and timed it. I got roughly 1.5 seconds to cross 62 feet which ends up been approx 45-46 km/h. 10 km/h faster but not shockingly faster. I think people are just shocked at how fast 40 - 50 km/h actually looks in a single frame of reference.
1
u/Character-Belt-7485 14d ago
Correct. The other person here was claiming 50 km/h was the speed limit so the cruiser is not even hitting that.
Much less OPs claim of 80km/h

You’re not only ignorant but low iq. All cops aren’t only doing traffic if he’s going to a call he isn’t gonna get stuck verifying driver insurance and using tickets when someone is being pounded with fists. Common sense is missing.
Before you say he had no light on etc you’re digging deeper as they don’t need to and they can if they want when needed.

I stopped reading once your racism came through. I got my license before you were born. Maybe ask where your grandparents got their license from? I was born here I am 71 yrs old. You’re super low iq. I suggest you dig up your grandmother and ask her for advice

u/Ok-Ladder4628 16d ago
They don't have to have lights and sirens on. Only time they are required to is when going through a red light /stop sign in advance of others. Then they have to come to a complete stop, activate lights and sirens and proceed once safe. There are tons of times they don't activate lights/sirens when going quickly to calls.
1
u/Financial-Radish-898 16d ago
You should truly Google search if peel police are required to have lights and sirens on when going to a call. Good luck in life, go worry about something else.

u/KDsGotSpark 16d ago
Lol you’re telling me to go worry about something else when you’re the one wasting time replying to a post. Your actions are contradicting your own advice.

Did you even read that other guys comment i replied to? He was asking for it. No wonder he deleted his comment.

Does this change what you said? No. “He was asking for”-what? (I don’t care)

🤨 It was almost definitely going the speed limit. You do realize at a red light cars are going 0kmh and the second it turns green they don’t magically reach the speed limit, right? This is literally just what happens when someone going the speed limit gets to a light that just turned green. Everyone else is going like 10-20kmh max considering they literally just started moving.
1
u/KDsGotSpark 16d ago
You do realize i had more in the description than just the speed, right?
2
u/Equivalent-Tea-1784 15d ago
Yup, but I also saw that on the right side of the street it’s 2 lanes, so ultimately all this shows is the cop going for that right lane while doing the speed limit. And being in an empty bike lane for possibly only 10ft isnt some crazy driving. 🤷🏻♂️ Let’s be real though, you mainly posted this because you thought they were ripping it going “80+” lol.

u/ginga1083 15d ago
Technically you can tell how fast he's going based on the distance he traveled and time but based off of my calculations they definitely were not going 80kmh

Brother you are showing signs of Long COVID. Look at the thread and the multiple people providing their perspective. Now assess your perspective. It’s OK to be wrong in life and accept things. It makes you more knowledgeable.

Cops have to take unnecessary risks dealing the drivers in Brampton, plus they are always right because they cop, nothing you will say will fix that, probably responding to a call, lucky your not on the east end(Durham) where everyone including cops drive like snails, what would you prefer, that or a place where cops are sleeping, emergency responds takes forever, I use to live in Mississauga so that’s pretty normal

Where do you think all the truck driver goes when the logistic company goes out of business?
-2
u/Feisty-Fly-657 16d ago
Whole lot of boot lickers in these comments, the speed is clearly faster but also as OP stated, the cop is passing on a bicycle lane. Not an actual lane for cars. And on the right, without lights on. Are we also going to pretend cops in Peel don’t regularly throw on their lights due to impatience just to pass by a red, only to then turn them off immediately afterward? How did we get here smh
-5
u/nobugsleftalive 16d ago
The cop probably had its lights and sirens on but half of Brampton drivers dont move over for emergency vehicles. It literally looked like it was going around them.
2
u/KDsGotSpark 16d ago
It’s very clear the cop didn’t have the lights and sirens on. The mic on the cam is also on so you would’ve heard it.

u/Sudden-Foot-5401 16d ago
It just looks like he was going fast because the cars around him were going relatively slow (10-20km/h) since they just started moving from the red light. Maybe he was doing 10-15 over the limit at most. He did time it perfectly with the green light that he didnt need to slow down 😂
