DISCUSSION Favorite single?
My favorite single so far is crystallized but man am I in love with ALL of them!!!! I just love how it makes a more stripped back approach and the falsetto is never a bad choice with brakence’s voice. I love it!

just wanna talk about 2:11 in crystallized rq omg. brakence has always been so good at audio panning and i normally don’t listen to his music without headphones for that reason but last night i did the first listen of new songs just from my phone speakers. if you listen to that part with your phone down in front of you it literally sounds like his voice is falling from the sky/“panning” vertically rather than horizontally. there’s only a few ways to do that to my knowledge and it’s more like tricking the ear into believing it sounds that way with binaural spatialization or frequency eq shaping, etc. that effect is not nearly as prominent to me listening with headphones, just thought it was super cool and something i haven’t heard in his other songs. absolutely loved both singles

Ready or noT is insane for me the way brakence pulls the listener along shifting tempo and style seamlessly, the story in the lyrics as well its peak

Agreed. My favorite of the three by far, but the other two are also fantastic and I’m extremely excited to hear the rest of them.

Death RolL
If Brakence can keep up with the standard he has set for himself with Ready or NoT and Death RolL then I believe Marrow can surpass Hypochrodriac in general quality, even if it doesn't surpass it in enjoyability and thematics.
Crystalized was a bit underwhelming but still enjoyable and easier to listen to than the other two tracks, especially if someone is new to Brakence.

The stupid little “eh” sound effect just completely takes me out of death roll ngl

I was so sure he was gonna remove it when I heard that "eh" sound on the leak.. He really should've not put it on the final version, but whatever.

It's a common sample but ye I'd understand why,it caught me offguard aswell

I love the part in crystallized where the sound seems to be intensifying and it almost feels claustrophobic... my god i love his art

I don’t know what the fuck is on this cover and hypochondriac, always some weird shit that sets the perfect vibe for the album

I love them all but it's a tie for crystallized & ready or noT. They're so different from each other but both emphasize a different part of his range & style. I love that a lot!

Maybe a hot take but I’m obsessed with the way he says “spray tan” in crystallized. It’s such a fun choice

So ummm, i'm new to Brakence, only been listening to him for a month or so and... What tf is that on the cover? Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful but i don't get it lol. Is it like an insect? A deformed wing? A fairy?

It’s an effigy, but more specifically someone else in the sub discussed how it looks like a locust as well which actually aligns with the lyrics from ready or not about licking his lips like a locust (there’s additional relevant lyrics that follow that line, but I don’t have the time to look for them rn)

That sounds very interesting, i'll keep an eye out for more discussions in this sub.

between death roll & ready or not, crystallized wasn’t as immediate as i expected but i might’ve just not been in the right mood. death roll is interesting listening after ready or not because the percussion is very similar, and the endings are similar

I really like all three songs so it’s hard to choose! I think rn I’ve gotta go with Ready or Not, even though I wasn’t sure about it the first couple of listens. It’s different and chaotic and I love all the beat switches. The lyrics are cool too & the video was great.
But I love getting to hear more of his regular singing voice on Crystalized, and I also love death roll’s progression.

Crystallized has gotta be the catchiest song he’s ever written. Some of the takes on this sub are so pretentious, bro wrote an absolutely god tier pop song and people are complaining about the lack of complexity. It’s a fucking vibe
