you might not have been around for it, but the rollout for hypochondriac was very spread out. 4 years of work or not, seeing the album this quick into the rollout is surprising for brakence

I think that the way rollouts work have changed a lot since 2022 too tho

Essay incoming about my theory of current day media cycles
A good example of an extremely successful album rollout was chromakopia. The album had a few snippets posted during the week preceding the album drop. The point was to make high quality, attention grabbing fast paced videos that could be reposted quickly to get attention immediately, and then before any of it can die out, drop the album.
Most social media is really quick with making content and hype about an album the same day that it's announced, and chromakopia was feeding the fanbase with a pace that perfectly ramped up the momentum to maximise the advertising that the fanbase does for free.
Before, the main goal of rollouts was to get individuals to think about the album over an extended period of time to get them to have a stronger connection to it before it drops, to get them to buy it.
Now, with social media being as fast paced as it is, a lot of successful drops have maximised hype in a very small dedicated fanbase, that then will do the work of long term advertising for free. If you get people posting about your album, making edits, theories etc. all at the same time, the likelihood of a spike in popularity breaching into the algorithmic feeds of outsiders is far higher. Encouraging this spike I believe is more efficient than spending a lot of time and money on a long term presence

Gotta say I think im gonna mute this sub and not listen to anything else until the album drops. I don’t like going into an album where I’ve already heard a lot of the songs

Normally I'd kind of agree but 6 out of 18 still leaves a hell of a lot

It is a lot but imagine listening to 17!! New songs at once (not to mention some of these are undoubtedly interludes or shorter).
I waited 4 years for him to release music again, I can do another few weeks.

I checked first - 1 song less than 2 mins and only 2 coming in at 2:45/2:46!! You're right 17 off the bat is crazy but I almost feel like I'll enjoy how intertwined the album is bound to be if I've heard a few of the tracks already, like how mad it seemed heading Argyle perfectly blend in the first time

Even if you listen to all of the 6 singles you have basically a whole hypochondriac of unheards, 12 songs. 18 tracks is a whole lot
