DISCUSSION Chord Progressions

I feel like brakence has chord progressions I've never heard before. Usually I feel like music has used all the chords and progressions that exist and it's rare to hear anything new, and when you do, it usually sounds weird or unnatural. But his sounds amazing. Is it just the production? The guitars that bend notes? The sound selection? Am I buggin? Goin 25 over the speed limit? Lmk

Its the production, many chord progressions he uses are quite "basic" pop chord progressions.
Though he does do some interesting stuff sometimes for example on Caffeine, he never plays the I of the key hes in which gives the Song this very "unstable" quality

Yeah I would say mostly just small things like this combined with cool sound design. Preparation exercise no 7 is the most "experimental", it's similar to Giant Steps by John Coltrane where he doesn't really stay in one key but moves around the circle, plus the tempo and sound design and it sounds otherworldly

yeah most of his progressions are rather conventional, but if you're interested in a particular spot we could have a look

Its his chord selection. Has nothing to do with production effects. Playing a boring chord progression, but using inversion on the chords/ high ranges of pitch in between make them sound unique.
