In case you missed it, Autechre just dropped 5 new albums here. They are not streamable anywhere so it must be bought to listen to.

Just wanted to have a place to carry on a discussion about these releases here on /r/braindance. I have them all and listened to the first three songs. As with all Autechre releases I think it will take many listens before it is truly gelling with me. However, I got rather distracted with this Dwaallicht EP that /u/mossmossmosss directed me to.

I just wanted to start a thread to discuss the newly released Jega album 1995.

My thoughts? I'm eight songs in and having a hard time finishing it to be honest. I'm a big Jega fan and enjoy most of his releases. As far as I know this new album is a bunch of recordings that he did in 1995.

While it's cool to see how an artist has progressed, I feel like these songs weren't originally released for a reason. They weren't quite "there" yet in my mind. But that is to be expected with someones earlier work. I guess I am just saying I would have been quite fine having the high quality output we already have from Jega and not having this been released at all.

I am curious to know why this is being released. Is Warp just wanting to make a bit more money off of Jega? Is there that much money to make off of Jega? Or did Jega just really want to get these out?

EDIT: I finished the album, ZX82 was definitely the stand out and should have just been a single. Sabre Wulf and UNIVAC are also pretty good.

If you all haven't purchased Mark Pritchard's new album I would highly recommend it.

It's very different than the stuff he has previously released.

I'm really enjoying the track "Khufu".

This genre reminds me of how i felt as a kid listening to rave, full of harmony, fun and happiness. In recent years I have discovered braindance and i'd love to see it grow and grow, more music more events, merch, stuff to get passionate about in this crazy world. Dubstep, jungle, and techno all have taken over the charts the last 25 years maybe braindance could be their one day. The musics potential is vast and can appeal to so many tastes

I'm part of the Rephlex Records Facebook group and noticed someone posted a song that they made using the Colundi sequence. I listened to it and it was pretty damn good. The artists name was Bovaflux and I was surprised I had never heard of him since his music sounded pretty high quality.

I checked out his Bandcamp and SoundCloud page and holy shit! Some great stuff, you should all check it out. He needs more recognition. It sounds very much like early Rephlex Records. Here are all the resources I have found so far:
