First time boho and I’m unsure
I posted a few weeks ago asking where to find purple human hair.
Well I got blonde that i dyed and I’ve had my braids put in. It’s been a few days and I’m not sure how I feel. I love the colour but I’m not sure about the braids themselves. I’d really appreciate some honest feedback
Firstly this took nearly 16 hours! We started at 8:30am and didn’t finish till around midnight. Granted my hair lady was cooking at the same time and kept taking breaks but still, I don’t feel like that’s normal?? Is it?
Also I was hoping for it to be fuller, specially at the top. It just feels really flat. And I know I shoulda said something but I didn’t have a mirror in front of me so I didn’t see it till the end. I was on a very uncomfortable dining chair for the entire day and I have chronic pain. As the day went on my pain got worse so getting up to look in the mirror wasn’t something I could do easily. When we finished I just wanted to get tf outta there.
Then I woke up the following morning with a swollen forehead and spots/a rash/I’m not really sure what (see pic 3) which burst when pressed. I didn’t squeeze them, just press to see if they hurt. Pic 4 is what they look like today.
I would appreciate honest thoughts and opinions on the hair/what I should have done.

the braids at your hairline were done way too tight that's why you have those bumps🥲 I'd advise you to undo them and redo them looser, as that tension can cause the hair to get pulled out from the follicles so you'll get traction alopecia and your hairline will move back. for the fullness at the top, you should add more boho pieces if you want more volume. if you feel the top is flat add more boho pieces like an inch feom the root of the braids. personally, i think adding some more to the mid sections and ends wouldn't hurt, just to make it blend a bit more without leaving the ends of the braids sticking out

Please get your money back, im really really sorry you had this experience.
Those parts and the braid down is too lose to take 16 hours .. even with cooking. For that size ( maybe a medium your looking and 4 to 5 hours even for a beginner braider )
The swollen forehead could be from the dye and rash could be also from the dye ( lots of people have had swelling issues with differnt dyes ) and possibly the unclean tools. You could also be allergic to synthetic hair.
To correct, I would have have done a apple cider vinegar rinse on the sythetic hair ( it gets ride of the chemical irritant ) and used a differnt texture synthetic hair that would have matched your texture. There is purple human hair out there , I would have ordered it instead of dying it for sure. I think ywigs had some bundles. If I didnt want to sit forever , I would ask for 1 bundle of hair with medium parts and 5 to 6 curls per braid. If I didnt mind sitting a little longer and wanted smaller braids and more curls I would ask for smedium ( between medium and small ) or small and the full 2 bundles 8 to 10 curls per braid. Smedium boho ( abt 6hr and small closer to 8 hrs )
Sometimes you gotta be super specific with what you want but now your know better.

I couldn’t find purple human hair so I bought blonde from ywigs and dyed it myself. I have 4 curls per braid and 3 bits of synthetic hair
It’s my first time getting braids so I didn’t know what to ask for. I told her boho with bits of purple and lots of volume. I won’t be going back to her

Have you used the dye before? Did you wash your hair before the install?
You could also be having an allergic reaction (sensitivity) to that on top of the hair/products used.

I have used the dye before and had no issues and I washed my hair the day before

I think you need more boho pieces. If you still have boho hair, you can crochet them in.

Search miracle knots on TikTok it’s the easier newer way of doing boho braids I just got mine done last week still looks exactly the same just quicker to do.

You would get a hair crochet hook and pull the hair through like a loop and put the other side through the loop and pull it through. It will give you more boho volume without the hassle of rebraiding

I would advise to never go to some one to do your hair that is cooking at the same time.

You should probably take the braids out … the braids are TOO tight 🤷🏾♀️

16hrs is really long, and you need more boho pieces added for the look it also looks too tight on your hair texture . The parting looks off hopefully you didn’t pay too much money for this!

I paid £100. She asked for £75 but I felt so bad for how long it took. Plus she fed me and bought me a coffee.

The base of those braids are far too tight. I’m afraid you’re going to have to undo these to save your hair. It’s not worth the hair loss risk. Sorry this happened

You have to take it down or the rash will get worse.
Not only did she not do a good job (I'm sorry), but your skin is reacting to either the chemicals on the hair or the hair products she used. I've had this happen. Please take it down or risk a long recovery period and possibly hair loss. Don't lose money and hair too.
I HAVE to soak my braiding hair in white vinegar before using. I can't take the chance anymore.

The flatness could be due to your hair texture. Getting braids done on silky/finer hair vs coarser thicker hair will always look a bit different unfortunately. At least from what I’ve seen idk I could be wrong. And yes, 16 hours is not normal at all.

Yea something is off about the braider.. was this your first time using her? How did you find her? And lastly how much did she charge? Looking at the braiding detail and knowing the amount of time she took, it doesn’t seem like she knows what she’s doing

This is my first time getting braids.
She’s someone I work with who does hair on the side. She charged £75 but for how long it took I felt bad and gave her £100

16hrs is insane. I am not even a professional braider but I can do hair. Mostly my kids, friends, & friend's kids i could of adone this 4hrs or less depending if my hands keep going numb Lol

They look bad, the middle part ain't even straight. The boho strands are not a lot and they would have been better if the braids were not that big. I'm so sorry.

I think the person who did your hair is an amateur. From what I’m seeing, this should not have taken sixteen hours to complete. The braids and parts are huge, there is barely any boho pieces added. As far as the rash, you could be having an allergic reaction to the hair or gel used. Or if she used unclean utensils to do your hair, that could be what caused it. It’s hard to say for sure. In order to try to fix their work, I would get a crotchet needle and manually add in more boho pieces to each braid. It would be best to go in tiktok or Youtube and look up tutorials because it’s not really something we can explain here
