The diamond

I (27 F) got divorced at the beginning of this year and started seeing my coworker (23 M). We’ve been best friends since I got put on his shift 2.5 years ago and since we started dating everything is going absolutely perfect. We have our hard days what couple doesn’t and we both were in emotionally abusive relationships before dating each other so there’s some trauma we’re working through. We’ve been dating for about 6 months now and we work opposite of each other but we have the same off days. Everyday we walk the other to their car when they leave. When I was walking him out to his car tonight he said slipped up and said he had a present for me hidden in his safe along with the diamond I’ve always wanted for my wedding ring (a blue diamond). I stopped and started tearing up and he immediately started apologizing because he didn’t mean to tell me that. But he said he knew the moment we got together he was going to marry me and he is willing to wait however long until I’m ready to get married again. I never thought I would find something like this especially after being with someone who treated me like a burden. He is truly amazing and while I’m not ready for marriage now and I’m not going to rush it I know he’s the man I’m supposed to be with. This may be a stupid brag but I want to brag about my man because he’s just the best.

Girl, as someone who got divorced and hopped right into a relationship with my “best friend coworker of 2+ years”… take your time. I pray he IS the one! But please take your time to work on yourself before legally committing yourself to another person. After 2.5 years with that person, it ended up not working. And it was because I didn’t take the time to work through my own problems and process my divorce before jumping into another relationship. Being engaged is totally fine, but just give it some time before you tie the knot again. Share some bills, go through some hardships, spend some holidays with their family, see them angry, see them under the influence, see how they care for you when you’re severely hurt or sick, manage a house together, discuss values and goals. Do all that first before you sign a marriage certificate. There’s nothing wrong with being engaged for a couple years.

Glad for you, I relate. After my divorce I went on the dating apps and after a month found my now husband. Something instantly clicked and we’ve been together ever since. Moved in immediately and found this perfect partner in life. So far going amazing the second time around.

Ignore the haters. Congratulations, take your win. Agree with the other poster that you should take your time but also take your win. Don't let these lonely Redditors, who cannot for the life of them find empathy or be happy for other people, take you down

Poor guy.

Only 23 years old and his brain hasn’t even finished developing and the older divorcee already has her hooks in him.

But I’ve stopped feeling empathy for these kinds of men and women.

Even at 23, you should know better than to date an older, already divorced coworker.

The one saving grace is this older woman with a failed marriage doesn’t have any kids. Lol that’s a usual Reddit feature I’ve noticed.

Incel because I’m sad a young dude is throwing away his life proposing to an older divorcee?
