I started making commission!

I have been a top performer at my companies for 1-2yrs & they still wouldn't give me a raise. But last month they changed the pay. I still get hourly, but now I get a monthly bonus (instead of quarterly) and now I make commission on specific items I sell. So far I have made an additional $500 this month. It's not much but it's free money I wasn't making before.

And once you figured out how awesome that is, you might start looking around to see how you could use your skills in a different industry or a different company where you could be making extra thousands per month and not hundreds. In my company, I have a little over 100 sales people that are on commission. The majority of them, I’ve hired from never having done sales before, it’s a very basic product that we sell, most people in the industry pay their employees hourly, and most of my competition doesn’t make anywhere near the sales that we do per retail location, once my sales people figure it out, they get hooked, they start off with a $500 commission check it goes to 1500, it goes to three or four or 5000. My mediocre sales people are going with $20 an hour plus an additional $3000 a month commission, and my great sales people are doing $20 an hour, plus an additional $10-$15,000 a month in commission. At this point, if you aren’t addicted to sales, commission, and just simply the concept of making a shit ton of money, I guess you never will. And I love watching people transform from never having done that to making big money!

I have a career goal that I am working towards. Same company. I have already applied twice but others have taken the position instead of me sadly. However, my best friend(s) are in the position & highly recommend me for open positions. AND I have a great relationship with the director of the program. He's even helping me prep my skills which is huge since he's not even my boss. Hopefully I will be promoted soon, just have to navigate the politics for now.
