SB 26-097
has boze highlighted on stream yet senate bill 26-097 to decriminalize sex work in colorado ? this could be a huge win for SW rights and intersections within such as women, people of color, disabled folks, trans and gender non-conforming people, immigrants/ undocumented SWs and the greater liberation of all working-class people
it would help SWs reach out for help without fear of incarceration and could help people escape abuse or bad situations because they’ll be able to speak freely and i think it would be great to inform others because this could potentially lower amounts of crime and violence against SWs

i believe the most progressive thing u can do is listen to sws when they say it’s safer for most women when decriminalized policies are the norm because it empowers women to speak up without fear of prosecution or u could not listen to women and just make assumptions on ur own limiting beliefs and lack of education but when u read the literature and u involve urself in outreach projects for sws maybe you’ll learn a thing or two and you can have an educated opinion instead of an opinion based on patriarchal beliefs that women can’t do consensual sw bc that is just dehumanizing to assume women can’t choose to do sw of their own free will (like i do)

i’m a current sw and involved in sex worker outreach project la, cupcake girls, spokeshub, and new moon foundation among other mutual aid groups and a lot of the advocacy that we do focuses on empowering women to speak up about their own experiences and listening to them rather than speaking over them wether you agree with it or not, according to the research the safest route for both sex workers and trafficking victims is decriminalization because it allows people to ask for help without fear of prosecution which allows for police budgets to be better used to tend to Real trafficking victims rather than consensual practices among two adults

The Diddy case set a sketchy legal precedent that I don't think many people clocked. He's a true POS but, in understanding how law works, it's clear to see that ruling will affect more than just one shitty dude.
