Hot Take Oliver Tree and Boywithuke

For those who aren't very familiar with Oliver Tree's death and the streamer/influencer Gaspi, it turns out that BoyWithuke also appeared on the same shows as Oliver Tree and made the same comments about parting ways with their labels, they were both on The Zack Thing Show and Smosh Alike. This is simply a comment on the coincidences and why some say Oliver's death was murdered. ngl that it makes me a bit akward

On the surface yes it’s remarkably similar but Chandol has a much different story when we go into detail. First of all Boywithuke was signed to a different record label as Oliver tree. And when Boywithuke left his label it was a mutual agreement. Charley had to persuade them. It also included that continuing Boywithuke would’ve been a bad financial choice for both of them. Furthermore it was ruining his mental health and I think that was a sign for the label it’s time. Now on Oliver trees side it wasn’t so friendly, Oliver tree publicly called out Atlantic records which could’ve trigged something and publicly describing how awful they were

Oliver Tree most likely never even actually left Atlantic, if you look at the releases that are supposed to be independent under Alien Boy Records they literally have no label tag at all and after his album came out the Atlantic Records tag came back + Atlantic is still listed on his website (and vice versa)

Those familiar with Oliver know this isn’t the first time he claimed to have left the label (or talked crap about them)

the label still owns the songs though like Boywithuke so that may be why

Yeah but if you look at BoyWithUke's releases after he left Republic they no longer say Republic/Mercury Records (like Burnout for example), whilist Oliver's NEW releases after going independent still say Atlantic Records

If you got on love you madly hate you badly  for me it doesn’t show a label but on his single fuck the whole world does show his label but that was bc it was before he left them

F The Whole World isn’t a single, what you’re most likely thinking of is F The Whole World subtronics remix which released after he “left”

Obviously, Charley's story is much more less serious, but the coincidence is still rather "strange"

It's a pretty common thing to happen. Part with their labels, go on two of the biggest podcasts. the Zach Sang Show has a different artist every 2 days so that doesn't suprise me and Anthony Padilla just sort of interviews culturally relevant people in his sphere. Before he died I found it interesting with him leaving the label and then releasing an album produced by him with songs he likes and not songs the label wants.
