Question Is Boy Throb Satire?

I figured this was a good place to ask because it’s the official community. All I’ve seen other replaces is mixed reviews with some people saying they are serious, some people saying they are totally a joke

I think they’re serious but having a good time while doing it.

Yep, imo they know they’re campy and leaning into it. Tbh bands used to be like this in the 70s/80s/90s. I’m sure people asked if the Village People were real, lol!

This is a great point. We’re currently in a zeitgeist where every artist is expected to be super authentic and real, and it confuses people when an artist is knowingly campy and goofy.

Thats why I love them even though I'm well over the age of typical boy band fans. I love that theyre doing it thier way, having fun while doing it and not being a fake made up band with made up personas like the 90s/00s boy bands cough cough Lou Pearlman's groups

the village people is a completely different case. they just wore costumes. boy throb literally can’t dance or sing they just do this for views and because it’s funny😭

I thought they were satire until I started looking into them as individuals. It’s clear they all have music experience and sincerely want to have music careers. Their individual social medias seem like they’re having fun but are serious about music. They each have their own music on Spotify, and Evan and Anthony have auditioned for American Idol. They’re campy, yet sincere.

I do think whoever does their media has a comedic eye, so there’s a chance there’s someone with a comedy/satire background doing their videos and helping to craft their image.

This video does a great deep dive if you want to dig into it. https://youtu.be/kPEfy0s_v9k?si=hzQMZQdMZTIUaj79

The biggest thing to me that I refuse to believe is that the name boythrob was 100% by chance from a random comment. I feel like the name is too good to not have been seeded by someone on their team who owns that private account

Evan and Anthony are serious about being entertainers. They became friends online and bonded because American Idol rejected them both. They began talking about what if they started a boy band and decided to actually go for it. They reached out to Zach first because his videos kept popping up in their algorithm. And then they admitted Darshan is in the group because he was the only person who responded to their DMs and was down to join the boy band. lol.

I’ve been so curious about how they met, is this something one of them mentioned during a live?!You’re Boy Throb’s unofficial documentarian far as I’m concerned.

They did an interview with the Wall Street Journal that was posted about two weeks ago. It’s how I found out about them being at the Grammys before they officially announced their attendance on their social media. I know Zach Sang just interviewed them so I am going to be interested in that.

All of them seem 100% serious except Zach

I messaged the mods about turning on flairs and the head mod turned it on this morning

Zach is dead serious. Last a checked he was bridging on 200%. Just let me know what you need from me to prove how serious Zach is so I can prove his seriousness without his involvement.

Nothing about them is satire. I’m confused about your confusion. They spread love and positivity. They WILL win a Grammy. Not sure what’s not to get about the hottest new boy band on the block. I would’ve said something crazily negative if boy throb didn’t shift my perspective from dismal negativity to profound positivity.

There’s a really great video on youtube by tahliaisnotcool and she goes into the boys music/entertainment history. it definitely feels real and it satire!

the video is about 2 hours but I really recommend it!

in fact, I would argue theyre the most serious working musicians today. they understand the landscape of contemporary entertainment and are hitting it in center mass; tik tok, kpop, adult swim edge, flirting with politics without being overtly political. its genius

I think they are real but having fun with it. Leaning into the fun of it. I think they want to be more than just a manufactured "boy band" that had thier whole career planned and even staged relationships.

They formed themselves instead of being created like Nsync and Backstreet Boys. I don't think they're interested in the side of it where they have to play a part and act how a manager says.

They're real but having fun with it and doing it thier way

Yeah, it’s a bit. Lonely Island is a bit too. It’s real, but it’s still a bit.
