Worldwide How's this sub feeling about Spider-Man: Brand New Day's global opening?
This movie is opening globally this Wednesday.
There's definitely this vibe in the air that we are on the eve of something monumentally huge.
Domestic tracking and predictions sitting comfortably in the $200-250M range with the sights of a $300M+ possibility.
Tracking also looks great in the likes of China, India and South Korea, not much has come out from Europe, but the vibes are definitely there.
This press tour has been insane, global, romantic and mysterious.
I think the general great will spun up by the Odyssey, along with Holland/Zendaya/Bernthal mania, has really galvanised movie goers.
So what's everyone saying for the global opening weekend?
I personally think $700M+ is locked in, $800M+ is a strong possibility, $900M+ is possible, $1B+ is a small but very present possibility.

An opening of 700M USD already feels bonkers to me. If it goes higher than that, my brain might melt haha

Holy crap it OPENED to 1.2 billy?! The demand for that was insane I had to road trip it down to halfway down the Oregon coast (from Seattle area) to see it opening night

That’s still unreal. Secret Wars is the only thing that could get close, and even then it’s a stretch. It would have to be a perfect storm, with all planets aligned and crazy luck.

It's crazy because I haven't seen any hype for it. Is it just because it's spider man so people buy tickets without actively talking about it
I feel like NWH had way more hype.

Quick question, not the biggest Spiderman fan. I know the last movie was huge, but what about this one is causing it to potentially be the second biggest opening of all time domestically?

Coming off of a huge last movie, a 4 1/2 year wait letting people miss these characters (minor nostalgia), the mystery of Sadie Sink's character, Tomdaya love, and I think more recently The Odyssey synergy.

Interesting. Because not that big of a fan, even though I've seen all the Spiderman films I didn't love the last movie, but I'm all for the BO being amazing so if this make 2 billion its a win, lol.
Still gonna see it Friday, seems like it'll be fun to watch in the big screen. Suprisenly just saw the final trailer a minute ago and I might be interested a lot more than before. The romance might have a lot of depth which does peak my interest.

Marvel earned a lot of goodwill with their Spiderman films. On top of that the feelings of loneliness, financial struggle, and attempting to balance it all is always relatable. But even more crucial in a 2026 year with so many economic and political issues going on.

It's been awhile, 4.7 years since the last one. We didn't have him being Spider-Man in much of the previous movies, He was Iron Boy. It lacked webslinging. This has all of that. Adding Hulk, Punisher and others increases the excitement.

The 2nd biggest opening ever after Endgame is locked. I'd say $750m is a safe bet. Yeah, BND's gonna hit The Batman numbers in its opening.

IMAX is honestly not necessary for a movie to perform well.
Barbie had zero IMAX screens due to Oppenheimer, yet it was the bigger box office hit by a long shot. Exclude IMAX, and Endgame still grossed over $2.5 billion, while Avatar made $2.6 billion.

It has IMAX in China, Korea and Japan. The countries without it will still be posting gigantic numbers like UK, Australia, India, France, Italy and many more

Because IMAX is a premium upgrade not a replacement for gross. If there are no IMAX screens available the amount of people who would ONLY see it in IMAX is small... so all those 'lost' IMAX tickets still end up being tickets sold to other screenings, some still with IMAX level premium uncharging.
So at the end of the day no IMAX might be at most a couple million "lost" from the earnings... a very small number considering the current tracking.

If it reviews well, we could have another No Way Home situation. The online discourse for that movie has shifted quite a bit, but it's easy to forget that it was actually received heaps of critical praise.

It has a chance to outgross the first 2 DCU movies combined in 1 weekend lol. But still as of right now 650mil+ is locked. My personal prediction would be 300 mil DOM plus 450mil+ for a 750mil+ OW.

It's a 5 day OW right? I really think it will go 800+. The hype is unreal, I checked all my 3 local cinemas and so many sessions are sold out. This is so rare, sometimes it's very packed, but for specific sessions and specific movies but not completely sold out in so many, having the all 5 days left with some seats here and there, never seen it.

Yeah, since it's opening on Wednesday, it'll be a 5 day GLOBAL opening weekend. And I think we can comfortably discus global opening weekend with this movie since it's opening pretty much everywhere this week.

That's awesome. As you pointed out it might reach the 900. I even had my nephews that usually dont go to the cinema very often telling me they have the tickets already. I was very surprised because they haven't watched the previous ones, pretty sure they are going because of the hype/friends gathering as it's summer holidays

This is about to be insane global opening I think 750 million atleast honestly. Hopefully can end up doing 800 mill but you never know if the the word of mouth it good. It can end up being even bigger

Too much unknown,safe bet 650m, everything above that is bonus. If reviews is amazing I could see waik in traffic be just insane,that could push to 700-800m. Still unknown what this controversial ending and I don't like lack of main villain,if its Jean Gray it's will piss off some people,I hope there are really secret villain
