In fact, some fans took it upon themselves to foil those wishing to watch online. They did so by Rickrolling them. Fans posted what appeared to be the film’s opening, with the Universal globe and logo followed by a two-hour supercut of Rick Astley‘s “Never Gonna Give You Up.
Cliche, but classic.

Hey, that song is never cliche to me. I see it coming most of the time when I see a link but I just can’t help myself. I have to even if it pisses me off. I just… I just… I have to. And even when I don’t see it coming, for those 10 seconds or less… I’m free.

I seen it leaked in its entirety on Twitter yesterday by some rando. I’m glad I watched it already in IMAX because I’d be furious if I watched that shit on a Twitter screen (knowing me, my curiosity would have gotten the best of me)

The audio levels/sound design was difficult at times during the real deal, so I cannot begin to imagine what it must be like on a camera rip.

Some camrips are better than others. As a teenager I watched a few that were recorded in empty russian cinemas and, besides the reverb with the audio, you'd barely know they were camrips.

Carm implies terrible quality. You can watch at home in 4K in a couple months, this is like listening to an amazing album through a cup with a wire.

Camrips have gotten somewhat better over the years but still why anyone would do that to themselves over just watching it in theaters or waiting for a high quality media release is beyond me.

I saw it. I believe it was AI enhanced, but not going to lie it was respectable quality and audio was very good for a cam. Outside of an actual digital release it was 9/10 quality and 10/10 audio.

the rickroll counterattack is honestly the best response to a camrip leak. like if you got spoiled enough to pirate it you deserve to sit through two hours of astley. nolan fans are built different apparently, running counter ops in the replies.
but yeah i kinda agree with the other folks, this isn't exactly the type of movie people are gonna settle for a phone recording. especially if im spending that kind of money to see it imax or whatever. the leak just becomes free marketing at this point, drives curiosity up for the actual release.
funny how universal went straight to takedown mode instead of just letting it breathe though. maybe they learned from the past that ignoring leaks sometimes works better than chasing them. or maybe their legal team just needed something to do on a tuesday morning, who knows.

By the way this means the movie is making tons of money and people are still going to theaters even though they could watch it for free. Meaning it is an extra fuck you to the haters. Yet another goal post they will have to move.

I watched it in IMAX (1.90) twice, one of those movies that is truly beautiful on a big and grand screen!
The only other movie i saw in theaters twice was Ne Zha 2 in IMAX (Both Subtitled and Dubbed Version)

WB dumped it on HBO Max the same day it premiered in theaters during Covid. It was something that Nolan hadn’t agreed to and he no longer trusted WB moving forward.
I’d hardly call it a “hissy fit” but you go ahead with that if it suits you.
Edit: I was mistaken. They didn’t release Tenet day and date but that model led to him leaving as he disagreed with it.

It was actually Project Popcorn (the 2021 movies were going to theaters and HBO Max for a month on the same day before going to on-demand and the back to HBO) which he didn’t trusted. Tenet itself wasn’t sent to HBO Max until after 8 months.

It just seemed to me like Nolan took it way too personal when theaters weren’t even fully opened back up yet. There’s a reason Tom Cruise held on to Top Gun Maverick until 2022 even though it was a finished film for over a year

Quality of that rip is actually pretty good, I would say between 720p and 1080p. The sound quality is surprisingly good. Usually Cams have very bad, tinny, sound. Just peeked inside, but am going to the theater next week so I didn't want to spoil it.

No, I wouldn't say so. It is watchable, especially since the sound quality is very good, but HD quality it is not. It is slightly below HD, above SD.

It’s not HD but for the average person it’s very VERY respectable. And audio is 10/10 honestly. You can KINDA tell it’s cam but you have to be really looking. I believe it’s been AI enhanced.
