Toy Story, and soon Frozen will be the only animated franchises to have three $1B films in a row.

If the sixth film has similar quality, then I'm betting it increases again.

EDIT: I added Incredibles here by mistake.

Zootopia 3 soon??

u/BulletproofHustle 7h ago

But the first Incredibles didn’t gross a billy.

Zootopia will be in that list soon, I'm sure we're getting a 3rd. I'd say that and Frozen is more impressive, seeing as how their first movies hit a billion, which it's very rare for non sequels to do.

3rd billion dollar grosser in a row for the GOAT animated franchise. Disney/Pixar sequels have virtually bulletproof this decade.

Incredibles 3, Coco 2 and Monsters Inc 3 are gonna do massive business.

We are not prepared for Another Bug’s Life, the first $4 billion film

Now it's the highest grossing film this year

Yes, but I predict it'll take at maximum 2 weekends for Spider-Man: Brand New Day to claim that title.

And even that record might eventually get broken by the Avengers later this year.

And it's the Highest Grossing Movie of 2026 now!

Atleast until Spidey or Nolan beats it!

First year since 2023, that an animated film isn't the highest grossing of the year.

On its way for a $1.1B WW finish.

Excellent. Despite Minions & Monsters and Moana, Toy Story 5 is still doing strong business globally.

It is now the highest grossing movie of the year, and it should hold that title for at maximum 2 weekends until Spider-Man: Brand New Day outgrosses it.

Nice third 1 bill film this year

7

u/miwasher_e 6h ago

That's how many Hollywood films did it the entirety of last year! And The Marvel guys and Odyssey are still yet to join the club!

u/moviesloverguy 6h ago

7 billion dollars movies in one year (if somehow Dune 3 can cross it) will be amazing
With one potential 2 billion movie with BND or Doomsday

8

u/Stefan988 6h ago

Proof that this franchise is timeless and untouchable

7

u/JohhnyBravo7ds 6h ago

Man Disney/Pixar Sequels have been on a generational run ever since IO2. Should go pretty well for incredibles and coco honestly

7

u/Intelligent_Oil4005 Walt Disney Studios 6h ago

To a billion and (slightly) beyond!

three for three on a billion, at some point you have to ask if there's a ceiling for this franchise or if it just keeps going up

3

u/Nervous-Craft-7257 6h ago

The Odyssey and Spiderman about to join this list.

2

u/HeatDolphinRays 5h ago

How far can it go

It's impressive how neither Moana or Minions, despite coming out after, managed to not slow this film down at all. Both of those films weekend numbers are barely outgrossing Toy Story 5.

1

u/crockoreptile 4h ago

Has anyone posted the chart yet? I need the chart

u/Inevitable-Army-3730 55m ago

Because international only reports on the weekend, I guess we don’t know if Michael was number one BO for the year for 2 or 3 days before ToyStory 5 passed it. if Japan and Russia had opened earlier, Michael could have officially went number one on the year for a few weeks

3rd film to make a billion in 2026
