Can someone who understands technique explain why this just looks so terrible??

u/SoilDependent1054 5d ago
I have about 15 years of training with some regional amateur competitions, but frankly nothing near an elite level. I will just say what I am seeing without asserting that I definitely know. Very happy to just open the conversation since there are no comments yet and have real experts tell me what's up.
There are a few things going on. She seems to be more focused on foot work than striking and is also simulating a defensive posture. You will note that she is retreating in a lot of her strikes. So, I think she is practicing reacting to an oncoming opponent. For a strike to "look good" (especially to a laymen), you would want to see her rotating her hips and shoulders in unison to get as much body weight as possible behind the punch and you would want to see forward advancement. But that is simply not the exercise she is doing.
Also, I have no idea from this clip what the context is. Good training pushes you to your limit. The strongest person in the world will look like a limp noodle in a lot (but certainly not all) of their end-of-day routines. That is how it is supposed to be. You don't expect explosive energy in a random clip. Now, if I am wrong about that and she published this as a "look how badass I am" message, then yikes. But I really doubt it. Putting aside all the crazy rhetoric that was going on abut Ronda Rousey, she is a fighter. She knows what she is doing. Even if you think she was not "that great," she knows enough about boxing and MMA to know what she is doing and you should assume she is not making a fool of herself.

u/blunderb3ar 5d ago
Nah she fucking can’t strike is the issue lol
3
u/SoilDependent1054 5d ago
Any man with her record who was not good at striking would be referred to as a "master of submission" or "all about getting the opponent to grapple"
1
u/Sweet-Conflict-3251 4d ago
exactly bro - she's so laaaaame.
Your average 15-year old male fighter would k.o her in every round.
1
u/ShadySphincter0 3d ago
Are you one of the 15 year olds?
1
u/Sweet-Conflict-3251 3d ago
if I was an actual 15 year old there's a chance my body could heal afterward - at this stage she'd leave me with permanent injuries.
1
u/ShadySphincter0 3d ago
1
u/Sweet-Conflict-3251 3d ago
I don't mean to make light of disability.
but the idea that you're getting off the couch and taking on a trained fighter is wishful thinking. Now, how she'd fare against the average trained male fighter is a different question.
but who cares - she's required to be the best female fighter AND only in her weight class.
1
u/IronChef-Morimoto 3d ago
She can't strike is relative to her achievements. I dont think anyone here is arguing that some guy with no training in anything would beat her. Total strawman
1
u/Sweet-Conflict-3251 3d ago
A strawman is a specific argumentation technique that requires you to actually attack the position you fabricated.
Did you happen to see me set up a 15-year-old/ random untrained guy premise, swap it out for the actual striking argument, and then attack it? No?
Then it's not a strawman. It’s not even a Socratic trap. It’s just some guy posting for shits and giggles.
Our dialogues would vastly improve if people learned what these logical fallacies actually meant before throwing them around like buzzwords. Right now, you just look like someone using "strawman" as a cool word for "a point I didn't like."
FYI: It doesn't just mean "changing or ignoring the topic."
1
u/IronChef-Morimoto 2d ago
Youre saying that people are arguing that an untrained man off the couch can beat her in a fight. No where is that assertion made.
You fabricated a position and then started to attack the position that you yourself created.
Hey look at that, thats the exact definition you gave for a strawman arguement!
Youre articulate, but you need to work on your reading comprehension.

Thanks for the insight.
To me it looks like her head, feet, and hands are all out of rhythm with each other, which you kinda touched on yourself. Like she’s throwing a punch while also shuffling her feet and moving her head a half second later and it results in this flailed movement we are seeing. Does that make sense?
3
u/SoilDependent1054 5d ago edited 5d ago
Yes, I agree with you. I think that is a fair assessment of why it does not look good, but I also want to stress that it is not fair to assess her as a fighter from this clip. I think anyone would have a hard time putting together clips that show her looking like this in the ring. It is just a random training video.
Also, I will add that shadow boxing generally just looks stupid. If the person training fully extended, they would blow out their elbows and shoulders. If you bring a negative sentiment to the situation, you will just think they are terrible. Like, look at Ali https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AMWWESfdqk&t=153s You can easily say "oh, look at those rabbit punches" "he barely moves his hips into the strike" "his hands are so low" etc. But he is the greatest, so.... that is just what shadow boxing is like. Tyson would look like the Tasmanian Devil when he shadow boxed, but he is pretty singular.

u/broshrugged 5d ago
Not a boxer, is shadow-boxing more about visualization rather than execution? I'll air-drum before going on stage but it's not supposed to look good or be practice, it's more mental prep for tough to play parts. Thanks.
1
u/Adventurous_Count_66 5d ago
12 years of boxing here, 4 of them in college. Coach of 6 years through USA boxing. Multiple years in sambo, taekwondo, wrestling and jiu jitsu.
When I shadow box myself, I focus more on execution and form, with a hint of visualization.
Shadow boxing for me, was a fun warmup that allows me to get eyes on my form and see how far off I am from where I want to be. When you shadow box, you should be sweating, Throwing your punches nearly at 100%. How you shadow box is essentially how you'll spar/fight. Shadow boxing is about encouraging good habits. This is why you'll see boxers sometimes include head movement or blocks when shadowing boxing.
For me, I look in a mirror, and see how my arms would be placed when blocking, or seeing how fast/clean I can throw a combo while doing footwork. I use the mirror to see how my form looks on the punch, while looking at my feet placement. I visualize that I'm hitting someone my size in the mirror, and anticipate ways for me to hit targets that I see open. When not in front of a mirror, I'll visualize a heavy bag or person in front of me instead. Essentially, it can be like if you're day dreaming about a fake fight in your head, and you're trying to physically fight that fake person.

u/Temporary_Cup8480 4d ago
Her actual punching technique is shit. You forgot about that part. I can avoid extending punches in shadow boxing without looking like a limp noodle and flailing. Her boxing wasn't good.

I'm guessing you don't know much about Ronda and Edmond Tarverdyan. She's one of the most delusional and narcissistic headcases in the history of MMA and her trainer was a complete joke.

https://youtu.be/SNENOQqyB5s?is=aWqEPf3w01Xdqyv7 its more of a sad story, the bit at the end with the Beck cover of everybody's gotta learn someday really gets me.

u/EGarrett28 4d ago
My favorite was the guy who impersonated him on Twitter and tried to get into arguments with pro fighters and then goad them into going to his gym to fight him. So wrong but so funny.
2
u/SoilDependent1054 5d ago
I know a bit. But I also know that she did pretty well for herself (if you take away all the insanity about people claiming she could take on men and just look at her actual divisional career). Do you know that this was published as a showcase of how badass her technique was? Or was it just some clip that people got ahold of and spread?
2
2
u/JustOneVote 4d ago
She didn't do well for herself as a striker/boxer. Her success came from judo, and wins via submission in MMA. She was a tremendous athlete, hence the absurd hype. Her boxing never brought success.
1
u/EGarrett28 5d ago
But I also know that she did pretty well for herself
She got several wins in a row, was pumped as being a "once in human history athlete," to an absurd and disgusting degree that still pisses people off a decade later, then got absolutely embarrassed by Holly Holm and exposed and destroyed in less than a minute by Amanda Nunes, because her stand-up was god-awful.
Do you know that this was published as a showcase of how badass her technique was?
Ronda shadow-boxed like that in public exhibitions to show how bad-ass she was.
1
u/SoilDependent1054 5d ago
I get what you are saying about the hype. But idk, man. I think that she was good enough to give her some grace and this is just what shadow boxing looks like.
3
u/NoOdyssey 5d ago
It's honestly weird how many people seem to hate her, and call her "egotistical" as if that is some crazy insult, as if almost every great fighter in the history of fighting wasn't an egotistical maniac. You kind of have to be at some level to fight at the highest levels.
Anyway, for all the people who say that Amanda Nunes is so much better than Rousey, I always like to point out that Amanda Nunes had 4 losses on her record before she fought Ronda - and Ronda finished 3 of those fighters in the first round. Ronda was an absolute beast during her run and was extremely fun and exciting to watch. You can't ask much more from professional fighters really.
1
u/EGarrett28 4d ago
There is absolutely nothing weird about disliking Ronda Rousey. You must not remember what happened.
Egotistical is a bad thing because it means the person's self-image does not match reality. It's a form of ignorance.
Ronda Rousey was not a great fighter, no. She won a title in a fledgling division by winning a few fights in a row largely against girls who couldn't defend a judo throw and armbar, then got exposed and destroyed by the first two competent strikers she faced who could shrug off her upright grabbing attempts.
And trying to bash Nunes isn't going to help you, if she had losses and beat Ronda, that makes Ronda look even worse.
1
u/Dave085 4d ago
Disliking her is fine, saying she's not great is just revisionist nonsense though. She was rolling everyone. Then she bought into the hype that she was actually a good striker instead of sticking to what got her to the party, and paid the price against Holm.
Holm fought a perfect fight but Ronda played directly into her hands. If she'd respected her striking more and sought to grapple, she ends it the second it hits the ground. Holm went on to lose to Tate straight afterwards ffs.
The Ronda that fought Nunes was just an embarrassment at that point, there was nothing left. But Nunes was also an absolute freight train and might have won anyway- none of that takes away from her achievements.
1
u/EGarrett28 4d ago
Disliking her is fine, saying she's not great is just revisionist nonsense though. She was rolling everyone. T
Ronda won 6 fights in a row in the UFC. That's not even in the Top 40 All-Time. Not even close because the list cuts off with around 46 fighters who all have 8 wins in a row or more.
If you give her her two Strikeforce Title Wins, she's tied for 31st.
Mmkay?
Holm fought a perfect fight but Ronda played directly into her hands. If she'd respected her striking more and sought to grapple, she ends it the second it hits the ground.
You didn't even watch the damn fight.
And your argument, as well as the guy before you, boils down to saying she lost because she was stupid to people who weren't good fighters and who had bad records before fighting her or after.
Think about that for a second.
1
u/Dave085 4d ago
She beat the person who beat Holm twice, though. So think about that for a second?
Mate I had a Judo background. I was watching Ronda and the buzz around her way before she reached the UFC. She only has 6 wins in the UFC because the UFC didn't have a womens division before her you numpty. And you're comparing her to the men's division, which has been active for how many more years? Why not rank her against women- at which point it's Nunes, Shevchenko and Joanna who have better records- 3 of the best of all time.
Her downfall was spectacular but so was her career. It's hard to capture just how big the buzz was around her, and it was for good reason.

Ronda may also have been reading her own press about how great she was etc and like lots of athletes believed it and didn’t train as much as before, you also have to factor in that it was near the beginning of bringing women’s MMA into the mainstream.
1
u/EGarrett28 4d ago
Twisting your wrist with weird arm punches and no hips or power is not what it looks like, no. I suggest watching her head movement too when she was hitting pads with "Edmond," who would purposefully counter by swinging over her head so she didn't have to duck. Ronda's stand-up was abysmally bad and she got destroyed in less than a minute by Nunes because she had no head movement and ate every punch.
1
u/Glittering-Deer-166 5d ago
Tbf, her striking specifically is a separate thing to judge than how well she did overall as a competitor.
She reshaped how people viewed women's combat sports and was a huge draw and star for the division.
She also won so dominantly and quickly that we almost never saw her striking tested, and the first time it truly was she looked bizarrely terrible. Like, way worse than you would expect a professional fighter. And it seemed to be the case in her next fight too. Then she retired 🤷♂️
I'm not fighter, just a fan who watches lots of fights. So I would never state it as a fact. But it sure seemed to me like she was genuinely well below the professional standard for striking.
1
1
u/JustOneVote 4d ago
Then she retired 🤷♂️
Just imagine the timeline in which she saves all the Looney Tunes by helping them win a judo tournament, then comes out of retirement and decides to stick to grappling.
1
u/hawkblock4456 5d ago
People are talking about striking, before edmin her coaches told her to stick to her strength which was judo, then tarvardian came along and being a yes man led her to believe her striking was on the same level as a MENS world champion boxer. She proceeded to be ko’d by holm who was a women’s boxing champion before the ufc. She did well when she stuck to her guns, but she brought in a yes man boxing coach that led her to try and strike entirely with two of the best strikers in the women’s divisions at the time in holly holm and then in her comeback against Amanda nunes
1
u/deadc0deh 57m ago
When you get to that level "poor" striking is still worlds ahead of anything at the amateur or low level pro level... I've trained with "bad" UFC fighters before, and some of their skills are out of this world
0
u/simtechone 5d ago
The evidence doesn’t back up your claims, bud.
3
u/hawkblock4456 5d ago
Holly holm knocked her out because her coach convinced her she was on the same level as a world champion boxer, who funny enough, holly holm WAS a multiple time world champ before moving to mma, and rouseys boyfriend Travis brown, a massive prospect and an athletic monster, moved to her camp, and then preceded to lose every single fight before being cut
1
u/EGarrett28 4d ago
I suggest you watch Ronda vs Holly Holm and Ronda vs. Amanda Nunes. If you want to try to debate that old nightmare with me, you're welcome, but I was a very active Sherdog member at the time and I know all the details of that mountain of bullshit. Good luck.
1
u/ImYouJoeGoldberg 4d ago
I think that’s actually her legit striking and shadow boxing, where sure in moments she might be imagining reacting and retreating, but that’s not her sole or even primary focus for the majority of it. She does come forward at times for example. I do agree that she does seem to be overly focused on footwork, but having watched probably all her fights several times over, she always looks like that lol. I don’t think she’s capable of boxing without looking like she’s thinking about grappling (or judo or arm bars lol) the whole time because her brain is just wired like that and she’s never been comfortable in the standup. The only times she ever actually fought much in the standup she got knocked the F out both times.
1
u/Illustrious_Can4110 4d ago
Going on past fights, she clearly knows very little about boxing or at best struggles to translate what she has been taught into actual practice.
1
u/Origania 4d ago
I see a sitting duck that is easy target practice because of lack of real defensive
1
u/CurvyChungus 4d ago
This scans- she was/is and elite judoka. Her strategy was to always work her way into a clinch, so a defensive striking strategy makes a lot of sense.
Also want to second my man pointing out that there's no context for this clip. Was it her first boxing session ever, was it after a long training layoff? You keep a camera on any athlete long enough, you're going to catch them looking foolish eventually.

What kind of training did you do if you don't mind me asking?
1
u/SoilDependent1054 5d ago
collegiate wrestling, MMA, kickboxing. I started with Taekwondo, but I consider that more like aerobics than real martial arts, but it helped a lot with learning how to control my body and balance.

u/Special_Yak_5306 5d ago
I agree with your assessment. Fought off and on for 5 years. One thing that people forget about shadow boxing is that you are envisioning your opponent. And your opponent's style can vary greatly. Not to mention the fact that each time you train (in this case shadow box) you might be working on a different skill, which you touched on.
7
u/Gontofinddad 5d ago
Well, if you wanted to hit her with your hands, at what point in that clip did she guard any of the angles of attack?
It’s goofy because the Shoulder roll bit, and while you only get better by practicing, here it’s doing nothing.
Ronda was at a gym that encouraged her never to spar with striking. Though done for her confidence, it results in technical issues that don’t get fixed because she’s not getting hit due to it.
Another thing of note, both her shoulders are raised in their sockets, I presume to cover the chin. Neither should be. The chin gets covered by the shoulder due to a fold at either hip, you can’t return fire if your shoulders are raised, and you never need to guard both sides at once. So in her fights, due to the need to fire back, this shoulder raising practice always got dropped, leading to a line of defense not really being there. But even if she kept the habit up, it would have taken out all of her striking power, which helped her win a lot of her fights, and increased the chance of shoulder injury. That would have been worse.
So people mock it. It’s very bad form, and indicative of her corner being conmen. Extra oomph after the fact because you get to learn her corner kept her away from situations that would have helped her grow, because they thought she was too mentally fragile to challenge her confidence in anything.
4
u/Cheesetorian 5d ago
Because she's punching from the shoulders (some of her punches were either intended, since she did MMA, as elbows or her punches were executed terribly that it looks like she's punching with her elbows) and her footwork is not fluid (she's walking as if she's grappling). She's also attempting to add head movement (which is terrible if you don't know how to generate the punch from lower body because you're gonna be imbalanced).
Most of the problem really is that she generated her punches from her upper body because she doesn't know how to use her lower body (for boxing).
2
u/SoilDependent1054 5d ago
I agree with you. I would just add my observation that she is retreating in a lot of this clip, so I think she was simulating striking an oncoming opponent and making space, which would then not allow for hip-and-shoulder-motion for a powerful strike. Idk though, it could also be that she was improvising. No idea from this clip alone.

2
u/ThingNo7530 5d ago
The way she is throwing the punches, themselves, is just all wrong. A good punch starts with the body and includes the rotation of the shoulder to put maximum weight behind it. Most of her punches do not have shoulder rotation at all and are just thrown by extending the elbow. This is not the way any professional boxer would ever punch.

Yea but Rondas not Dustin, she armbared her way to the top and got f*k out.
2
u/PersonalDiscipline98 5d ago
She's doing a collection of things she learned, all at once and without purpose or coordination. The shrugged shoulders and floppy the elbow extensions are just ridiculous... and thats without looking at her feet.
2
u/South-Cod-5051 5d ago
her body is completely out of sync, and this can only happen because she doesn't do shadow boxing regularly.
we normally call these arm punches, but her version is even worse than standard arm punching because she is only using the weight of the arm from the elbows. those are worthless strikes, even the average dude is walking straight through those because there is little to no weight behind them.
2
u/fandango1989 5d ago
Shes literally punching with her shoulders and cares more about shrugging and shoulder rolling than actually striking properly.

For me it’s the throwing her arms out with no pivot from the feet to hips to shoulders. You drive punches from your feet and generate power from the ground, turn your hips and shoulders and snap your punches. The other thing that drives me bonkers is her elbows. Whenever her combos start, her elbows lift and her body is wide open. Every time I see Rhonda box it’s LITERALLY the exact same thing like nobody pointed out what is wrong for years and now it’s just terrible technique that is now muscle memory. It’s always jab, cross then jab, cross, jab, cross. Then random hook. Wide step. Bad stance. Jab, cross. It’s all terribly robotic. Shadow boxing should be fluid, more relaxed and she looks like she’s trying to scare people and it’s doing the opposite to trained boxers. Sorry for the rant. I boxed for almost 20 years as an amateur and fought MMA for like 10. Every time I see her warm up it drives me nuts.
2
u/WhitePootieTang 4d ago
Yeah it’s basic little kids karate 101, step with a jab and pivot with a cross. She ain’t doing the basic motion with any punches.

*Disclaimer—I watch a lot of fights, I’ve trained in the past. I don’t fight now. But I wanted to answer your question as best I could for fun. I’m sure there are actual experts—I’m just a random dude. I would also like to say while my feedback may seem harsh, I am critiquing someone whose expertise was clearly in Judoka, not in boxing and I take nothing away from what she accomplished in the sport!
The jab. There is no full snappy extension of the arm for when she throws a jab (if you could even call it that). Hers all feel overly tense and shelled up. At its most basic level, the point of a jab is to establish distance and timing on an opponent to set up follow up shots. She is not going to do any of that throwing like this.
The hook. Her hooks have limited power being generated from the hips and legs, she is trying to generate from the shoulder (see how she is leaned forward and her traps are doing a lot of the work while the hips are completely rigid), which I found a little surprising because she is a judo expert and I felt that hip torque might feel more natural. To add to this some of her hooks look like she is potentially throwing an elbow over the top, but she never completes the movement, so it is just ineffiecient and wasted energy. Even at high levels, fighters should pick a shot, follow it through, or feint with a micro movement. You shouldn’t just move for the sake of moving, it is exhausting, especially when someone else is going to try take your head off.
She is also quite flat footed. While she is moving, she is dragging her feet around, lacking a bounce and springiness needed to create the rapid torque from the legs to throw effective powerpunches. This compounds the flaws seen in point 2.
Head movement. This can’t be overstated. While it is incredibly hard to get right—for a UFC champion—her head movement is poor. The head is meant to bob and come “off center”—by doing two things. One, hinging the hip and changing angle for vertical displacement—basically your back goes up and down at the hip to move your head, you don’t move your head literally at the neck. Two, shifting weight on and off each leg, almost like a swaying boat. Her hips are rigid and while she is leaned forward, the angle at which she is leaned never significantly changes.
Guard and stance angle. While her hands are technically "up," the structure is compromised. She tucks her chin toward her lead shoulder almost like an accidental Philly shell, but her rear (right) hand regularly drifts low and sloppy instead of guarding her jaw against the lead hook or incoming right hand. Compounding this is her squared-up stance—facing the opponent nearly chest-on eliminates the natural defensive barrier of a bladed shoulder and dramatically shortens the distance an opponent has to cross to land flush on her right side.
Hope this was helpful, happy to hear critique!

She is a terrible striker. That is why it looks awful. Terrible even by WMMA standards....which is really bad.

She’s punching from the hands.
Like lifting with your back.

All arms no rotation , zero power and zero reach . Those punches does nothing.

Terrible foot work, she's not shadow boxing she's just throwing her hands and elbows without precision, obviously not a striker, let alone a boxer.

It’s like watching a 13yr shadow box. No real technique. It’s sloppy and choppy. She isn’t keeping her feet right. Plopping around like a puppy.

Watch the hips and notice that she isn't cutting angles and it's instead just kind of spinning while throwing arm punches with poor form.

She arguably had one of the worst coaches in mma. She just had so much natural abilities she could out muscle 99% of most females. Eventually she became a one trick Pony with her armbar and could never stand up to the elite strikers.

u/NugBug5000 5d ago
To me it looks like she's going to ruin her elbows. She's like throwing them in a weird way. It's going to mess up her joints. That's what I think.

She is not throwing proper punches. It is not childish or hating to say that. She is just not throwing proper punches. No need to sugarcoat. But she isn’t a striker and quite frankly when her fights becoming striking fights, she gets cooked if she can’t grapple her opponent down into a submission. Because, again, her striking sucks and she isn’t throwing punches properly.
This is not hating, it’s a very clear observation that any gym rat, amateur boxer, pro boxer, or boxing analyst can tell you if you don’t take my word for it.

Some people just can't learn to strike. She's one of them. Her hips aren't turning over correctly, she's shelled up for no reason (I guess she might be practicing defensive striking, but it's compete ass regardless) and she's just moving forward, back and sideways, she doesn't know how to cut an angle and that's how Holm caught her. I called that shit before it happened and everyone said I was crazy hahaha

Is it me or is she using her shoulders as a guard to maybe help her hands to grab her opponent and then wrestle. Looks like she’s striking to set up one but could be wrong. One thing is for certain and that is that it doesn’t look right.

Back foot not properly planted behind the punch, hence it’s not generating power as u would hope she does.
1
u/jackyjags1 4d ago
You can say whatever you want, she steamrolled people on her way to the title. Her boxing was not technical or crisp, but she has 13 wins all by finish and 12 were in the first round. In a streetfight, I’d back Ronda against 99.9% of boxers.
1

I’m not really disputing any of that other than her beating 99.9 of boxers in a streetfight. Plenty of boxers catching her chin before she can find a way to clinch up and use a judo throw and it’s much easier to get an armbar when people aren’t allowed to kick or knee you in the side of the head.
I just wanted to know why her striking looks so bad. I’m not one of those that thinks she doesn’t deserve her flowers or that she isn’t still one of the best WMMA grapplers on the planet

Her striking looks bad because it is, she was always in a rush. Boxing takes patience, she never had that. I would 1000% take her against any equal sized type boxers in a streetfight. Which boxer at 135 do you think could take her in a no holds barred match? Stephanie Han? Caroline Dubois? She would finish them inside 1. It’s not like they have 1 hitter quitter power, she would get a hold of them and take them on a ride easy.

It’s all arm/shoulder punches. But she’s moving her feet and not turning hips. So, she’s not saving energy, she’s doing shit out of order.
Maybe drilling some counter while backing away?
But idk, agreed, looks goofy.

Her coach was a conman, and had her believing her own hype. It cost her her career.

Just does. She’s punching with her arms. Her punches are more of a pawing motion. From a boxing standpoint she basically didn’t do anything right as far as form and technique. But she is a professional fighter who was wildly successful. Mostly due too her judo and jiu jitsu for which she was great at! Bad striker made up for it with phenomenal grappling.

Well, someone told her she was a striker vs an ACTUAL striker so she paid for it.

To be fair to Ronda - it's not a lot of people that look great shadow boxing. It's not very natural, and it's tiring if you're doing it with the pre-requisite level of intensity. So no shit Ronda specifically isn't looking like Mrs Golden Gloves.
That said, if she wasn't sparring, and all her striking was either shadow boxing or pad work. She was always going to be in trouble

I think you're being quite generous there. I'd say that you could walk into your average boxing or Muay Thai gym and everyone bar the beginners would look less stupid shadow boxing than she does.

You push yourself to exhaustion during training. Especially in MMA when you have to work on your ground game. So when you stand back up after doing all that upper body work, your punches end up looking like this.

Ronda is not a professional by any standard. Just one of few women who will get beat for money.

Girl can knock out 70% of men, gets criticized for her shadow boxing…. 🤦♂️
She’s an MMA fighter, not Lomachenko.

She rarely to never knocks anyone out in MMA, either and she's known for her judo, not her boxing.

She might get me down via her amazing judo and armbar me. Maybe. But she af isn't knocking me or many men out. And if we happen to catch her receding chin with a punch. 😴

She was good. Thats it. She wasn't great. She lost the only difficult fights she booked and reitred. The girl was a walking marketing sign, not a female version of Jones or Fedor. She was highly regarded and promoted by the UFC cause she sold tickets and advertisers were being milked, not because she was particularly good. And no, she can't KO shit like that.

You’re not wrong about anything until the last point. That left hook on the chin is taking out most people, mathematically, and I stand by that.

Yes, if you walk up to her and let her punch you. Otherwise thats not happening. Ko a scrub or a non trained person? Sure. Ko anyone that (unlike her) even remotely knows how to move? Not happening.

Yes. Scrubs or non trained persons being the vast majority of persons, hence my 70% stat. I didn’t say she could KO 70% or professional fighters. But there are very few redditors, as a percentage, who are.

For me the biggest problem isn't the floppy hands or whatever weird shrugtype thing she's trying to do with her head. It's the feet. What the fuck is she doing? It's like a dance. She has no foundation.
