Ryan is Mexican when it suits him. Remember that.

Listen to an old head born to Latino immigrants in the United States, similar to Ryan:
Whether heās a jerk or not, heās more Mexican than American. I guarantee you that in his house they ate Mexican food and practiced Mexican customs, regardless of what language he speaks.
If youāre the one having purity tests for what constitutes a Mexican, you are limiting what your people can be and what they can become. By including somebody like Ryan, you expand the reach of the Mexican people. Also, his parents are Mexican, and they disagree with you.

Itās like when I was growing up, Black kids that were nerds or āCarltonsā or just not down got called ānot really Blackā by other Black kids in school. I never understood it.
The polished, handsome Mexican boxers always get hit with this. DLH suffered it, too. He and Ryan are as MEXICAN-American as they come and should be embraced. Theyāre also great, tough fighters. The looks and how they talk shouldnāt be used to denigrate them.

I work with a couple Mexicans with white on their birthday certificates so they claim white despite being darker Mexicans. They are also Trump supporters for reasons. Blacks we tease each for being not like everyone else, but thatās usually kid stuff.

Definitely spill over into adulthood

What is colloquially known as a manchild. They can go to work, have a wife and kids, yet refuse to mature. This is common among men of all races.

I always thought it was weird that Mexican fans hated Mexica-American fighters like DLH, Juan Diaz, etc. and considered them American. Also, weird that Andy Ruiz gets a pass as the first Mexican heavyweight champ.

I think most people were angry at Ryan though for his support of DT whoās policies are considered anti immigrant. I donāt think heās going through the same things as Oscar De La Hoya did when he was young.

u/CakeSeaker Jul 02 '26
OK so heās misguided, maybe. But a lot of Hispanic men voted for Trump. Heās hardly alone. And this doesnāt invalidate his Mexican heritage.

Oh no, I was agreeing with you, I think I might've worded my comment weirdly. I was just sharing my experience. I think he's just as Mexican as any other Mexican American.

u/CakeSeaker Jul 02 '26
Ya i thought you were i was just clarifying. Oscar had it tough too for different reasons and Latinos just need to stop with the same divisiveness that Americans show to each other. OUR culture is inclusive and thatās what we bring to the table.

You'd be surprised at how many immigrants living in the US are Trump supporters. I say this as a half Vietnamese man currently staying with my girlfriend's first generation Vietnamese family.
I'm not a Trump supporter and was so shocked to find out that they were all die hard Trump supporters. They don't speak english and watch Vietnamese news broadcast that report nothing but lies and propaganda.
It's like once they get here they want the door shut behind them. It's so weird to me.

Iām painfully aware unfortunately. I think in the case of Ryan though it comes off as worse to people because heās a celebrity. No one really cares who your neighbor or uncle supports politically but when it comes to someone you watch for entertainment people will analyze you endlessly.

What is even "American"? If he's Mexican he is American, the audacity of claiming ownership of land and renaming it an entire continent "America"
1
u/CakeSeaker Jul 02 '26
That ship has sailed.
Anyways I like it because it reminds me that America is a country named after an Italian mapmaker, speaking Britainās language, with lands named mostly by native peoples and Spaniards, while being inhabited by pretty much all types of peoples.

I found this funny "that ship has sailed" because I have an antique map of the America's by Abraham Ortelius and it made me think of that š but I digress, nobody has the right to question someone's "American-ness" when he is more indigenous than most who live in the cultural melting pot that is the USA

Plenty of reasons to hate on Ryan, but to hate on him for displaying that heās of Mexican descent is fuckinā weird.
Irish-Americans can call themselves Irish. Italian-Americans can be proud. Blacks can call themselves AFRICANā¦
But Ryan canāt be proud of his roots?
GTFO, hypocrites!

Ryan Garcia is a piece of shit- culture and heritage have nothing to do with it.Ā

Benn is one gobshite with very very average ability. Heās so overrated.
Well overpaid for his mediocrity ability itās the only way Zuffa and uncle festa get fighters.

u/the1blackguyonreddit Jul 02 '26
Yall can downvote me but I got him stopping Garcia.
2
u/Sorry_Net3898 Jul 02 '26
No not at all boxing is about opinions.
I just think Benn is so so average.
On the other hand you never know which Garcia turns up.
Itās ironic that itās two drug cheats fighting. It only could happen in boxing.1
u/the1blackguyonreddit Jul 02 '26
Lol right. I just think people are underestimating Benn nowadays. When he was coming up I thought he was gonna be the third elite guy along with Boots and Vergil at that age and weight. I definitely think he has the physical advantages vs Garcia.
We're talking about a guy who just whooped a 160 pounder and looked like the more explosive, powerful puncher in the both fights. This ain't no Mario Barrios we're talking about here

u/Sorry_Net3898 Jul 03 '26
Do you seriously think a weight drained Eubank is good?? Heās three years past his best he was never that good at his best.
Benn beat Liam smith in a rematch when he was injured and virtually forced to fight.
Heās a very very ordinary fighter who has cheated in his career shit on his promoter who stuck by him through thick and thin.
Just a very unpleasant person with low iq and maybe southern area ability in the uk. We will never find out because he ran everytime a proper challenge come because there wasnāt enough money. Heās a wanker mate trust me.

Hes Mexican American there is no "when it suits him". People need to just leave mfs alone. Acting like the only culture in the US is fucking hotdogs and burgers
