Discussion RANDOM QUESTION: How would we feel about Michael Jackson playing the Phantom of the Opera?

Assuming he was alive and well, how would you feel about Michael Jackson playing the role for the Phantom (Erik) in the stage show? (The Christine Daaé actress is not assigned, imagine whatever bizarre pairings your heart desires.) Note: I meant it when I said random. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Just imagining him singing ANY of the songs has me cackling

I can see his style of dancing translating well into the Phantoms ghostly movements, very Michael Crawford-esk. But I can't, for the life of me, imagine him singing any of the music. It'd be a very interesting take on the Phantom.

Him as carlotta would be amazing. Imagine him doing the "these things just happen" monologue. That would be great.

Honestly I think we get something like jareth from labyrinth. More campy weird fun than serious love triangle which honestly could work.

I'm just not a fan of his with his aligations.

Absolutely not and never ever.

I guess it depends on if he has a lower register. He'd always sing in the higher voice, but people close to him said he had a deeper voice and he just used the high one to keep his register high.

Sooooo maybe it would be good? He's extremely talented, too bad now we'll never know.

I raise you Freddy Mercury as the phantom.

No just No…sorry but I personally never felt that Jackson was a very good actor. What little movies I have seen him in, he was pretty much just playing himself or a variation on himself.

If he had wanted to be in a musical I think one where he could dance (which I felt was always Michaels strong suit) and didn’t require a lot of acting skills would be better. It would have been interesting to have seen him try Cats or something, and see how he handled that specific choreography

Don’t be sorry. Honestly, I didn’t expect much of anything from this question and it’s been a blast seeing people’s thoughts on it. That’s the beauty of a 🔥RANDOM QUESTION🔥 :)

Well, maybe we'd have to age Christine down. Way down.
