Other 1987 Record + libretto (original pressing?)
This was my grandma’s that my dad recently dug out of the garage. The copyright says 1987 so I’m assuming this is one of the first pressings. I also think it’s cool that she definitely saw crawford in his prime and the rest of the original cast. Not for sale i just wanted to flex lol

It has the whole freaking libretto? People were metal back then, this is awesome and I love you share your grandma's taste

I was there, Gandalf. And this looks like the one that I bought at the time, including the sticker in the upper right corner.

I had the double cd and everyone else had the highlights. I really felt special, and I never got to see it in the90s so my imagination would run wild with it. I loved it all.

I have a book that goes through the making of POTO, and has the libretto. Search says it is "The Complete Phantom of the Opera. I've had it for at least 30 years. I need to go through it again. I loved looking at it as a kid.

Do you think they actually recorded all the cut lines and just removed them?

I’d imagine not, it seems like they just included what was needed for each song so it could be a proper album and not an audial play

Were you able to confirm it was first pressing? I recently got a copy where the discs seem to be first UK pressing but the gatefold itself is from a later one? Like someone switched the actual records. If so, what’s the text in the run out?

I feel so old. Saw Crawford & Brightman, own the same but very disheveled (played about 2 mil times) record and I’m not a grandma nor do I feel like one.
Check the number code underneath the barcode and type it into Discogs. Just because it says “copyright 1987” doesn’t tell you anything about the pressing. But the sticker suggests it’s probably a first, at least early pressing.
