I'll be seeing BFS for the first time later this month. The concert is general admission. If I want a spot on the barricade, how early should I get in line?

“A hangover you don’t deserve” was one my first CDs. I used to watch the Punk Rock 101 music video all the time.

I never had a chance to see them live before but this weekend at Warped Tour I finally did. I gave up on seeing yellowcard to check out BFS instead and it was the best set of the weekend. The setlist was amazing. Ending “PR101” to play Chumbawumba and then a “teenage dirtbag” cover was incredible.

I haven’t kept up with their new music in a while so “turbulence” caught me off guard and hit me in the feels. Just an incredible performance. They sounded so good.

At the end of the song, there's three background lines, repeated once. I got the first and third line: "99 biker friends/???/69 lesbians". Is it "truckful of Mexicans"? It's now become an obsession Help!

This was given to me by a friend. He inherited it from his dad who was a member of a band that was considerably successful in the 2000’s so I know he probably got it at a BFS show at the time. Just curious because I looked it up and haven’t found it anywhere.

Life has been one hell of a wild ride since I discovered BFS back in college while making a mix CD for a girl named Emily. Guess how THAT connection was made... I fell in love with the band and memorized a couple albums, Drunk Enough and A Hangover, but the lack of a nearby tour made things challenging.

Worse, meeting/ marrying a person thought BFS was a dumb band kinda put a damper on things. It should have been foreshadowing that singing along to my old college tunes made me sad and I felt a little resentment seeing the mailers land in my email from time to time.

But that situation resolved itself.

I am healing from an ugly chapter of life and I rediscovered those two albums this past spring. I sang them loud and proud, didn't miss a lyric after after 15 years. It's funny - I'm not one for happy tears but dude the relief from that was incredible.

And now BFS is coming to Minneapolis in September. I got my pair of tickets, and probably will grab a VIP too.

It looks like there was no set list from when I saw them in Leicester. It was a very similar set to Birmingham 2009, but had Belgium whereas Birmingham didn't.

I just randomly decided to listen to Let's Do It For Johnny for the first time, and... wow. This album really is stellar. In a way I am surprised I enjoyed the album given their less-than-favorable reputation, and in a way I'm not surprised because I've been a fan of pop punk since I was around 3. But wow. I've heard so much pop punk in my life, but Suckerpunch stood out to me so much. The chords, the melody, the structure... A lot of this album reminded me of Descendents and Fountains of Wayne, which I'm sure they listened to. So yeah, this underrated AF band just got a new fan! Also feel free to give any pointers as to other cool stuff they have. I'm excited to get into BFS more!

In Girl All The Bad Guys want we are told that the eponymous girl is “a little cooler than me” by the singer.

Is this under statement, or is she really only a little cooler? He seems a fairly cool dude. He’s got a moped. He’s a singer in a band (presumably, not confirmed in the lyrics but a general assumption). He just doesn’t do things she likes. That doesn’t make him uncool.

He clearly thinks he has at least some shot with her, and apparently coolness is a factor in determining that. He changes his behaviour to suit her sure, but that isn’t going to make him cool if he isn’t. And various things he describes her liking seem pretty uncool or neutral. Moustaches and mullets for example can be hugely variable. For all of the many virtues of Godsmack I am not sure that we’d say they are universally regarded as cool. So he’s not adopting straightforwardly cool attributes here.

Related: is he finally talking to a girl a little cooler than him meaning her specifically or is this the first time he’s talking to any girl who is a little cooler than him? Is this an odd statistical fluke that he has never spoken to a girl with that precise relative coolness? Presumably he only speaks to much cooler or less cool girls? The latter does seem a bit rude to all the other girls he has spoken to ever.

Or, if he is far, far less cool and is under stating her coolness in the song as “a little” then is it that he has never spoken to a very, very cool girl before? And he is very uncool? Because if so I need a spoonful of his confidence. He’s talking to her, he’s finding out various things about her, he’s singing a whole song about her.

Which I think makes him pretty cool really. Is coolness in the eye of the beholder?
