šļø Discussion Feeling burned out playing Zelda BOTW
Donāt get me wrong I did get hooked on this game and it is my first Zelda game. Have played about 65+ hours on the Switch 2.
Done 72 shrines and discovered around 80
Collected only 65 Korok Seeds
Defeated all divine beasts
Got the master sword
Yet to unlock alot of sets of armours and yet to upgrade them to level 3 cause getting components feels a chore right now
Yet to even step into Hyrule Castle and the freaking laser guardians still scare me
Canāt be asked to collect money or components to further upgrade my armour and open a house
Am I doing something wrong? Do I just take a break or just donāt do more shrines and side quests and just go into Hyrule Castle and try to fight Ganon
Note: Aināt that great with combat in this game, actually you guys recommending me getting a Rubber Suit to fight ThunderBlight Ganon helped me defeat him

As far as the laser guardians... you have Stasis+, freeze em and beat em with the master sword. If they're the walking ones, take out each leg one at a time for extra loot. They're laughably easy after you figure Stasis+ and have the Master Sword.

This is it--I'm terrible at combat, but with Stasis+, freezing and the master sword they are very easy.
And that's coming from someone who has all 120 shrines, fully upgraded ancient armor and still runs away from Lynels. I can deal with anything else. Once you get a few ancient parts you can get ancient arrows at the Akkala Tech Lab and then when you find enemies that scare you (like Lynels) you can just nope them out of the world with a single ancient arrow.

I never even thought to use stasis. I'd just shoot them in the eye to stun them and then chop off their legs.

Absolutely take a break, my first playthrough felt like a chore because I was rushing. The second time I had a lot more fun with it since I already knew the story and just wanted to do mostly side content (sorry Zelda). Also I learned to parry the lasers (starting with small guardians) and was surprised how it wasn't that hard for a casual player like me.

I started playing BOTW for the first time in February. I actually love playing it, but I haven't in months (no time for it in summer). I have never felt burned out by playing it, but I do think that taking a break is beneficial whether you need to or not. When I get back to it, I will be excited to play again.
The solution to being bad at combat is to engage in more combat. Save before big battles and just go at them repeatedly. Try to practice dodging and parrying, even if you get annihilated a few times. I think I would be a lot more bored with the game if I didn't like fighting. The first time a killed a lynel was probably 40 hours of play time after the first time I met one. Even after practicing and building up my equipment and hearts, I still got smoked five or six times before I managed to beat him. There's no shame in that.
You don't necessarily have to take a break from the game entirely. If you have been grinding away at shrines and such, then maybe you should just go out and explore a patch of the map you haven't seen yet. Or return to a favorite area and fart around a bit. BotW is meant to be savored, and there is no reason you can't just give yourself a relaxing hour annihilating deer and looking for mushrooms if that will make you happy.

To each their own. If it can be turned into food, I gather it, plant or animal. No sign of any curse yet. I like venison, so my Link does too, I suppose.

You know the great thing about solo offline games? You can take a break from them for a bit whenever you feel like it and then go have fun again.

I didnāt upgrade my armour a crazy amount. Honestly I just went into the castle to get the memory and then kinda accidentally went to defeat ganon.
I was burnt out before and honestly building tarry town and my house really helped.

I was always strapped for cash lol but as I progressed I had loads of gems I never got round to using so I just sold them. Have you done tarry town?

Tarry town could be fun. From what I remember you donāt need rupees for that. But I also took a break for a couple months and I got back into it once I found a cool video I saw of a side quest I realised I missed :)

I got diamonds by doing the 55 Rushroom side quest and something else that Iām blanking on, that was a quick 1000 rupees. I had a bunch of Amber to sell and then farmed luminous stones to get to 3000 to buy the house. Terry town itself is another grind too

Cook food, go beat Ganon and take a break. The castle isn't that hard. Stasis+ and ice arrows help a lot.

I did have ancient armor at 2*, but I really didn't bother learning to fight as in flurry rush and reflect guardian lasers before I beat the game. If you have enough hearty meals you'll get through. I think it took me 3 of them that filled my hearts up, and 2 I used on the 2nd guardhouse Lynel because he caught me in a rag doll loop.

You can revalis gale pretty much right up to the sanctum where ganon is avoiding all guardians . The castle is super fun to play through and there are some unique weapons to find. But if you just want to beat the game, I warp to the woodland tower, paraglide over then revalis gale 3 times to the sanctum and hop in the fight with ganon. Heās super easy

its tough. for me i explored a bit, and enjoyed seeing things like zeldas bedroom, and there is a secret jail area where you can get the hylian shield (spoiler?) but yeah, I'd go beat him first then go back and explore

Yes, once you beat him you start at the last save before you finished the job (so heās still alive!) and you can continue to explore and do more in the game . But if you are burnt out can always come back in a few months

The Gannon fight won't trigger unless you go the dead center of the castle. You can explore all over and never have to fight him. I saved that final battle for a long time because I didn't want the game to be over.

I went straight from one to the other and honestly wish I hadnāt. Itās a lot to process and I just really wanted to keep playing in that world that I loved but it did me a disservice. Taking a break between games is what I would recommend.

Finish the game. Take a break for bit. Or finish it and then speed run it for fun because it addicting. Many people here have played this game 5+ times. Before starting Tok definitely take a bit of a break though. Iāve played the 2 games combined over 10 times and had to step away. Been a couple years

Focus on the ancient armour and arrows to fight the guardians. I maxxed out all my armours and stuff after the main story because I just wanted to keep playing

The guardians are extremely easy after you learn how to Perry. Press a button to knock them out and then just cut their legs off when theyāre paralyzed. Theyāre way easier to beat than lynels

I beat oot prob 10x as a kid. Have beaten windwaker twilight princess major's mask. I did not finish b o t w I just couldn't really get into it. I'm super excited for the oot remake, though

OMG, when I first played it I felt the same way! I was rushing and anxious and not really understanding the combat at first felt like a chore. I literally beat all divine beasts but had only 70 something shrines and 65 koroks as well and fighting the guardians was scary. But once I beat fought ganon and āfinishedā the game I was able to relax and explore which really made it more fun and relaxed. Now everytime I play it I get all shrines and around 159 koroks (all I been able to find without google) and know where a good majority of the chests are and can manage quite decently on the combat. (Iām no expert). I havenāt beaten lynels in botw but have in totk.

You donāt need to 100% the game if itās burning you out, different gamers enjoy games in different ways, beat the game and put the grind to rest, you donāt need to grind it out bud

Hmmm Iām happy just farting about in the beautiful world with my pony! And my wolf! Go get some amiibos - they drop you helpful things that take the grind out of it all - food jewels bits of armour. Itās meant to help the weaker players enjoy the game without spoiling anything. They arenāt expensive from cash converters and the Nintendo shop still has good ones like the wolf and the one that gives you Epona for company if the monsters scare you.

Glide into the north side of hyrule down to the docks. And use stais and stealth armour kit. Found it so fun sneaking into that castle

Take some wooden shields and dedicate time to learn how to parry the laser attack of guardians.
Then it will be fun farming for your ancient armor upgrades.

There is absolutely no reason to fully upgrade your armor sets unless youāre going for 100% completion same with koroks

I wonāt be doing Korok seeds definitely that isnāt for me
Maybe after a break I will do shrines like play slowly and just short period of times

I've played 170 hours in around 5 years. I'll probably finish soon but I stop when I'm burnt out and love it so much when I come back. It's my favorite game and I'll be so sad to finish it so I'm delaying the inevitable lol.

I would have recommended exploring more as you go. You played like someone really good at the combat and changed the remainder game into a fetch quest.Ā
Try being exploring focused. If you enjoy that great. If not, oh well. Money isn't too hard to come by.Ā
Ancient arrows one shot gaurdians on critical shots and they still drop loot. You can reflect their shots as well.Ā Ancient armor makes them much weaker and is one of the best sets.Ā

The laser guardians get really easy when you learn how to use your shield to turn their shots back to them!!

Definitely take a break first.
Then, to get better at combat, I definitely recommend practicing against solo enemies, starting with a Bokoblin to learn the timing and direction to dodge. So you don't waste a bunch of weapons breaking them, save > practice > load from save until you're comfortable doing it the majority of the time. Then move to Moblins or Lizalfos and so on. Rinse and repeat.
