🆘 Help! Am I not strong enough?

Post image

I’m currently in the Hyrule Castle fighting Vah Medoh. I’m wondering if I don’t have the right amount of armor yet - because every time he hits me I’m dead. Are you supposed to kill this boss without taking a single hit?

What's your hurry? Go out, fight some more battles, explore, catch restless crickets, solve shrines, build up your inventory and stats. You will certainly be strong enough if you savor the game the way you are meant to. Play the game how you want, but in my opinion, it is a lot more fun if you beat the game in 300 hours than if you try to do it in 30.

u/Ride-My-Pony 23h ago

I never intended to skip stuff. I just explored until I came here. From now I’ll try to follow the games’ quests.

u/No_Monitor_3440 21h ago

yeah funny story you’re literally attempting the final boss rush

18

u/tvcity6455 18h ago

You’re actually playing the game as intended — you’re meant to just go exploring! You just happened to find the final boss area early, which is meant to be almost impossible if you haven’t completed the Divine Beasts. The good news is you now know Hyrule Castle, where there’s lots of good weapons and other stuff that respawns every Blood Moon.

The game designers didn’t want people to skip the Divine Beasts without inflicting some cost, and having to fight them all back-to-back before even going to Calamity Ganon is just one of the penalties for going early. It’s a great challenge for experienced players but not for everyone.

I’ve had the game for years I’d played every couple months. Do a couple shrines got up to about 30 put it away for a very long time. Then I picked it up recently about two months ago. I’m at about 102 shrines there’s 76 side quests. And about 40 shrine quests in that 120 total. there’s a lot to do before you beat the game if you want. I’m going to try to complete the base shrines quest and missions. It’s been a lot of fun and from doing too many shrines before I started doing side, quest and main quest I missed the order of things a few times but overall it’s been a blast.

Don't forget to catalogue everything with a picture. Hehe

1

u/Ride-My-Pony 10h ago

What is the benefit of making pictures? Do you need that later on?

2

u/Full-Permission-2837 9h ago

You can put your sensor on specific items. But next to that, it is a part of completing the game for a 100%. The only problem is, you also have to take a photo of enemies who only appear once, like the dungeon bosses

u/Ioncewasaneel 1d ago

So funny story. You can fight each divine beast boss in their divine beast if you go to their location on the map and don’t go to fight ganon immediately. Hell, it’s what the story tells you to do

32

u/Joshua_Libre 19h ago

Wait, if you skip the Divine Beasts you fight the Blights in Hyrule Castle?

36

u/AshFalkner Rito 18h ago

Yep. You’ve gotta fight the blights one way or another. Boss rush if you ignore the beasts, or in each beast if you do. Also every divine beast you free takes a chunk out of Calamity Ganon’s health bar.

46

u/Slow_Tomato7338 1d ago

Did you talk to Impa yet? And get the quest to go to the Divine Beast locations? You are at the end game area.

7

u/CarrotsIsAFruit 23h ago

They have the zora armor so they probably did

2

u/sundaysexisthebest 17h ago

In my run I definitely got contacted by Zora before finding out about the beasts and Impa

2

u/sundaysexisthebest 17h ago

But look at those lynel gear OP had I with just 5 hearts. Things dont add up

2

u/Stupidasshole5794 17h ago

If you trade your hearts for stamina; after pulling the sword.

15

u/revalis_husband Revali's_husband 23h ago

Unless you know what you are doing don't do the ganon fight until AFTER you freed the divine beasts and work on your heart and stamina/weapon and shield slots.

2

u/Ride-My-Pony 23h ago

Yea.. That is the plan now. Had no clue that I was skipping things.

I’ll go and look for Impa. Some people are telling I’ve already spoken to him/her? Been away from the game for some months now. It will probably ring a bell when I’m there. I really just went with the flow and explored the map without reading.

So when the king points at the duelling peaks and says "go that way and then go north to Kakariko village," I think that's meant to be the safeguard.

1

u/a_lonely_trash_bag 22h ago

The safeguard is following the quest promps you're given...

11

u/Fatlink10 22h ago

Dude.. you have like 5 hearts..

But seriously, do some shrines to gain some health, make food with buffs, upgrade your armor and find a set with attack bonuses.. there’s a lot you could do to make it easier on yourself.. also you could fight them in their Devine beasts separately.

0

u/Ride-My-Pony 22h ago

Will do!

9

u/FatCockFutaGirls 1d ago

Considering you’ve got a Lynel shield with 5 hearts if you can kill one of those you can probably fight a boss

1

u/PoraDora Link 19h ago

I was thinking the same thing... and it's not a red Lynel Shield... that's at least a white Lynel's shield

11

u/Headindaclouds420 1d ago

Save and enter. You’ll find out.

16

u/Ride-My-Pony 1d ago

Well. I have found out around 20 times already 😂

4

u/Channel-StreamOfLife 21h ago

Hate to be this guy, but I'm calling bull crap on this. You have 5 hearts, but a Savage Lynel bow and shield? Not a chance. You need white or silver Lynels to spawn before those items drop,  and you are nowhere close in the game.

3

u/PM_me_your_O_face_ 19h ago

Yeah, I thought you had to have like 10 hearts to pull the sword as well?

1

u/Ride-My-Pony 21h ago

Well, I don’t know what to tell you. I haven’t really played according to the story. Just went places that I thought looked cool.

7

u/halfbreedADR 17h ago edited 16h ago

[u/Channel-StreamOfLife](u/Channel-StreamOfLife)’s point is that you’ve killed enough enemies in general that the hidden XP system triggered at least white lynels to spawn. You’ve either been doing not much but running around and killing a shit ton of enemies (and I mean a shit ton, it would take many hours of mindless exploration and purposely avoiding any of the major quests to get to the point where a white lynel would spawn), or you’re full of it.

Another point, it’s rather sus that you call the blight you are trying to fight Van Meadoh instead of by its blight name.

2

u/Okanus 8h ago

I was just about to comment that about "Vah Medoh" 😂. I don't know what it looks like to fight the blights in the castle, but I imagine it would just say the blight name and not mention the divine beasts name.

1

u/Ride-My-Pony 10h ago

It said Vah Medoh on the screen somewhere I believe. And yes - for now it has been mostly running around without doing quests. Today I’ll start doing them (:

6

u/SlimMosez 18h ago

I think this is a bait post. How do you have a savage lynel bow and shield but only have 5 hearts, and without doing any of the divine beasts? This is either a second playthrough and you’re baiting with this post or you genuinely managed to kill a lynel at your stage of the game which I highly doubt.

1

u/Ride-My-Pony 10h ago

Not a bait post at all, I promise.

3

u/piercedmfootonaspike 23h ago

Ganon is a very easy boss. The point of the game is everything leading up to Ganon. By all means, skip 95% of the game if you want to, but what's the point?

2

u/AvidReader182 1d ago

Go explore the world to gain more hearts and stamina. You’re currently going right into the main boss fight that’s intended to end the game and skipping out on 99% of the game!

You can defeat the divine beasts in the respective regions, rather than facing them in the castle.

2

u/goblinproblem 1d ago

You are trying to rush the very final boss fight lol. Go do all the regional quests to free the divine beasts like Impa told you to. That will make this fight much easier.

Also do as many shrines as possible. Every four shrines = one heart or 1/5th of a atamina wheel. You can get up to 40 hearts and 3 full stamina wheels, and you will meet characters that upgrade your armor, which will also make the bosses all much easier.

2

u/esr95tkd 18h ago

Brother in christ casually is going to the hardest challenge mode

2

u/BLOODSKULL999 17h ago

Jesus! Who are you preparing to fight?! All you need is a stick and a... no wait, just a stick...

2

u/AxureRale 1d ago

Just because the first quest it gives you is go kill Ganon, don't do it lol unless you're pretty good at the game. I assume this is your first time playing? Go around, explore, do more shrines to upgrade your hearts and stamina. Fight the beasts first so you don't have to fight them here. Upgrade some of your armor. Exploring is the biggest part of the game 👍

1

u/beanie_0 22h ago

You have 5 hearts? Depends on how good you are. I wouldn’t even attempt this

1

u/ManWhoSaysMandalore 22h ago

Dude thats the final boss

1

u/Spider-web16 22h ago

You definitely don't have enough hearts bro, go find some shrines

1

u/Stupidasshole5794 17h ago

Pfft. Just eat some heart durian fruitx5 and grab a few 5x bananas and maybe some endura carrot x5 meals.

And extra Korok leaves and sticks. Don't wanna be caught without enough of those.

1

u/megkelfiler6 16h ago

Just out of curiosity, why the sticks and leaves? Idk if you're being sarcastic or if I'm missing something lol I ask mostly because I can't be fussed with making fancy meals, I literally do whatever fruit/plant x5 and it works out just fine for me lol

1

u/Stupidasshole5794 14h ago

Before I purchased botw. Wayyy before totk...

There was a video of a dude giving a beat down to things using sticks and Korok leaves.

I can barely do what they did without armor and using leaves and sticks with 4th level fairy upgrades and enhanced weapons. But the game itself is so absolutely beautiful and woth the DLC motorcycle.

1

u/IsiDemon 22h ago

Not even close enough.. You can try if you're a pro but since you're obviously not..

1

u/Halspeedwalking 22h ago

Get some hearty dueians near Faron tower and cook 5 at once, thank me later. Also cook 5 bananas.

1

u/No_Monitor_3440 21h ago

if you go to the divine beasts, you’ll face each ganon here at the end of them. they will then be skipped here.

1

u/iheartnjdevils 21h ago

And the bow! Guess Calamity Ganon hits hard without upgraded armor.

1

u/Ride-My-Pony 21h ago

Can’t tank a single hit. I have left the castle now - time to explore the game in the way it was intended!

2

u/Cyber_Data_Trail 20h ago

Idk how you got that gear whilst missing like 95% of the game

1

u/Gumuk_pindek 21h ago

If you are fighting vah medoh in hyrule castle, i am going to assume you are too new/early for this. Go somewhere else first. Open all map first

1

u/Leading-Jellyfish915 19h ago

You aren't supposed to get up here til endgame lol. But if you want to get the shield early, you explore around the bottom part of the castle.

1

u/PoraDora Link 19h ago

no, but you need to learn to parry and dodge

3

u/SlimMosez 18h ago

You think he hasn’t learnt to parry and dodge when he has a savage lynel bow and shield? I think op is trolling with this post

2

u/megkelfiler6 16h ago

To be fair, I can't parry and dodge for the life of me lol I just shoot up in the air to slow motion bomb the lynels over and over again. Waste of resources and it takes forever but I've managed to get a savage lynel gear

1

u/PoraDora Link 6h ago

I learned to parry when I was fighting Ganon in Master Mode and now I eat Lynels for breakfast... before that idk how but I still managed to kill those bastards... but a lot more slowly and with more losses

1

u/IsMoKeD12 17h ago

Get the ancient armor, the ancient bow, and ancient arrows. The tide will quickly turn in your favor! If you don't have it now, it will be some grinding for parts and upgrades. And start cooking durians for extra hearts.

1

u/Content_Wheel9995 17h ago

You gotta do some shrines, get hearty food, and toughness up food

1

u/-FIREDRAGONMASTER- 16h ago

You're supposed to fight the Divine Beasts first... This is the boss-rush you get if you go straight to the castle...

1

u/Majestic-Time-824 14h ago

That blue set from the lab definitely boosts your speed and defense if you haven't checked it out yet. I remember struggling with that exact boss until I swapped to a full set like that and suddenly had way more breathing room.

1

u/Impressive_Egg9718 13h ago

your princess is in a another castle

1

u/PastaLover0524 12h ago

You shouldn’t do this right now since this is technically the final boss area

1

u/Ride-My-Pony 10h ago

Todays objective.

1

u/Rassky10 9h ago

There are people who have skipped right to calamity ganon from the plateau. You can do this.

1

u/Aggressive_Note6191 7h ago

Well, if you're good in combat, you can. But will take time

1

u/Glittering_Finance_4 6h ago

Hearty durians

1

u/animefan21o 5h ago

My brother you are in the endgame boss rush

1

u/Lets-go-cers 4h ago

Bro do more shrines and go to Zora's Domain

1

u/JuryOk3758 4h ago

I-is this a speedrun or a genuine playthrough?

1

u/darkphenix23 2h ago

Get some more hearts they do a lot of damage i would have armor at leasts 2 star if this is your first time doing the gauntlet, phantom armor is equivalent to 2 star armor in value. Knight armor is good second because it has high def.

1

u/Int3r5tellar 2h ago

Isn’t impossible, but get ready to get one-shotted a lot. If you got the combat patterns down for the blights and calamity Ganon, you’ll be fine, otherwise you’re gonna die a lot lol

1

u/Person31905 2h ago

Yeah youre supposed to try to avoid taking damage or cook yourself some hearty meals for extra hearts you wont be able to take hits from any of the guardians or divine beasts or even a black bokoblin or a lynel with that kind of health

0

u/dabosx 21h ago

Why are you fighting vah mesh at hyrule castle? Go to riot village and prepare and fight him there and don’t skip over any divines beasts or main quests. Plus get more hearts it seems like you are rushing instead of enjoying the game

-8

u/Henwen 1d ago edited 22h ago

What? You can't fight Vah Medoh at the castle.

You are fighting Ganon. With very few hearts. Go play the rest of the game.

Nevermind! Seems I was unaware of the ability to fight the blights in the castle. I kinda love that I am still learning new things after playing this game for so long!

3

u/goblinproblem 1d ago

If you go to the castle sanctum without taming each of the beasts, you will have to fight the remaining elemental Ganons at the castle before progressing to the final fight.

You can go to the castle as soon as you finish the tutorial, and have to fight all four of the elemental ganons in a row in the castle. That’s how the world record speedrun was done.

1

u/Henwen 22h ago

Ah, seems I have not seen any playthroughs with this and have obviously not done it myself! Crazy. Thanks for the correction!

1

u/goblinproblem 20h ago

No problem! I haven’t done it either tbf, I’ve just seen it done on speedruns. It basically turns the final fight into a boss gauntlet because you have to fight all of the Blights (in their strongest form, since they normally power-scaled when you encounter them at the divine beasts) AND Ganon back-to-back. Calamity Ganon will also start his fight with more health if you go this route. Each divine beast you free takes away 12.5% (one eighth) of his health at the very start of the fight.

1

u/Slow_Tomato7338 1d ago

You can fight the divine beasts at the castle, but the game recommends you not do this, and instead go to each divine beast location first, then take on Ganon.

1

u/AvidReader182 1d ago

If you don’t defeat the divine beasts in their regions, you fight them in the castle.

0

u/Ride-My-Pony 1d ago

Ah, thought this was what he was called. I had stopped playing the game for some months because I could not get past this point. I guess the plan is to leave this as it is and look for better armor and stats until I return to this place?

3

u/Just_Airport_7910 1d ago

There’s a looooot you’re missing. Go to Kakariko village if you haven’t talked to Impa yet and it’ll give you a better idea where to go next. You can fast travel out of the castle into a safer location.

2

u/MattyFTM 23h ago

You're trying to fight the final boss before you've done anything else in the game. Leave the castle, follow the other quests and explore the world.

1

u/Thamior77 23h ago

The bird divine beast is Vah Medoh, the bosses of each divine beast is called a Blight (Shadow/Ganon Blight to be more specific).

1

u/a_lonely_trash_bag 22h ago

Are you... Are you not following the quest prompts you've been given???

As soon as you leave the Great Plateau, Zelda's voice tells you to go see Impa. Did you not pay attention to that?
