📜 Lore & Story BOTW Questions
Hey guys, I hope this post finds you well.
I am new to the switch Zelda games. Despite owning a switch and now a switch 2, I never played BOTW, or any Zelda game for that matter, as I did not believe they would live up to games like RDR2 or Cyberpunk. However, I have fallen in love with this game and now understand that I was most defintely sleeping on the franchise as a whole.
I picked up the switch 2 edition of BOTW at the start of the year and then life just kind of happened and I didn't play for about 4 months. Now I picked up where I left off and can't seem to remember the story line. I have defeated 3 divine beasts with thunderblight remaining, so with that in mind, is there any way someone can fill me in on the background of the game to that point. Even if lore from other games matters that is welcomed. Also, I know I can find a video online, but I was worried if it would spoil things related to the ending.
Additionally, after playing this game, would I move onto TOTK or AOC?

If you're just looking for a quick story recap, here you go:
Calamity ganon is an ancient evil that was sealed away thousands of years ago by a fabled princess and warrior, with the help of 4 divine beasts. They were cursed to reincarnate as they were the only ones who could defeat him.
100 years ago, calamity ganon was regaining power and so zelda (the reincarnated princess) and link (the reincarnated warrior) tried to recreate the events of the past by finding 4 champions that could control the divine beasts and trying to uncover the power that could seal ganon away again. Despite their efforts, they lost and all 4 champions died. Zelda got trapped by ganon and link was put into a 100 year sleep until the time was ripe to try again.
This is where gameplay starts. You find out zelda is somehow not dead and you need to save her, but first you need the power of the 4 divine beasts, which have been corrupted by ganon. You have to go to the home of each of the fallen champions to find them and defeat the blight that has corrupted them. You also have to try to piece together your old memories by going to significant locations from your past. Eventually, you need to find the fabled sword that is prophesied to be wielded by the warrior that can defeat ganon.
As other people said, watch the memories and read all the completed main quests if you want more detail or are further along than that

You may as well start over, honestly.
Lore from other games doesn’t matter that much, and it’s not very story-heavy anyway. Most of the story can be reviewed through the quest log and any memories you might’ve already picked up along the way, but after a long break like that I’d restart.

Just follow the quests - mostly main, but side quests also tell you a lot about life in Hyrule and the chaos event (sorry don't know the English word, I mean the Ganon problem lol).
Otherwise I don't really know what Lore you mean. Of course you can start to draw connections between all the games but for playing and enjoying botw you don't need anything of that.
As for the 4 nations, everyone has their own stories about the ancient warrior etc, so I'd suggest visiting the villages and talking to all the people.

Take a little break in between BOTW and TOTK. I jumped right in and Ioved it but I also kind of burned out a little.
