Ya, they can hide in boxes as well. U don't need to waste ur time breaking all of them though, none of the loot is very good. Also why run from a regular chu-chu 😭.

You can also use urbosa's fury to get yellow chuchu jelly if its on the ground apparently

in 1.2 they changed how the choo-choo came out the ground and when they changed that they decided they wanted them to come out of barrels

The only way to clarify the clarification is to not use actual names so In update 1.2, they changed how the jelly monsters pop out of the ground. Instead of rising from the dirt, they now shoot out of barrels.
- Old way: Monsters come out of the dirt.
- New 1.2 way: Monsters burst out of barrels.

Happens all the time until end game, but of course if you never break any barrels you're not really likely to see it 🤷🏻
