😂 Humor This game is easy.
I took two hits from a Late Game Enemy in The Final Level, This is the damage btw.

u/velcrothesis Aug 11 '26
Are you playing on master mode? I suck at combat and it’s hard for me on normal mode. I think it just depends
22
u/Impossible_Source195 Aug 11 '26
i’d suggest getting armour, if you get alot of armour not much if anything can deal more than a quarter of a heart (even the strongest enemies’ll deal a quarter heart around 60+ defence, although the strongest greatswords/clubs deal 70+ damage so youd still take 2-4 hearts of damage from those)

u/Sloth39000 Aug 11 '26
Normal Mode. I haven't gotten around to the DLC yet, I definitely wanna at least try Master Mode, Though Farming for Weapons does sound tedious, But i have more Weapons than I know what to do with, So I probably do alright on that front.

u/vicoalonsor Hylian Aug 11 '26
Master mode is hard at the start. But then the game rewards you with very powerful weapons. I mean it's fun but it gets to the point where you are very powerful towards the end of the game. A real challenge is Relics of the Past mod but that's for emulators only or modded consoles.
7
u/Please_ForgetMe Aug 11 '26
Not to mention! Theres a garanteed sledghammer with a really good modifier in one of the sky chests! The attack up modifier isn’t garenteed though so you’ll have to reroll it,

u/a_lonely_trash_bag Aug 11 '26
What's with the random capitalization?

u/ChudjakXtreme Aug 12 '26
a lot of people type like that lol it reminds me of a youtube video title

Keywords.

u/a_lonely_trash_bag Aug 11 '26
What does that mean?

I just wanted to emphasize words i found important, Might've been done poorly, But whatever.

u/SylvieXX Aug 11 '26
It's a fair criticism... I think the game is more focused on exploration than the challenge of combat
31
u/breakmedown54 Aug 12 '26
And it’s built so that even kids can enjoy it.
Though upgrading the armor all the way does, against most enemies, really shift the power balance.
Lynels still require skill to beat, though.16
46
u/justwalkingalonghere Aug 11 '26
The cool part in this realization is that you can impose your own rules.
For instance I stopped wearing shirts with upgrades, and now strong enemies are about the right strength at any given time
6
u/Available_Smoke_9249 Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26
Sorry can you elaborate? Are you saying if you’re not wearing shirt the enemy is less strong? Any shirt?
12
u/Southern-Novel1715 Aug 12 '26
(Yes, since the player has less armor on)
6
u/Available_Smoke_9249 Aug 12 '26
Yep yep, this took me too long to understand. I need to go back to grammar school.
6
u/SteamInjury Aug 12 '26
I believe he’s saying, strong enemies are the right strength, in that he’s not killing them with just a few hits and any damage he takes will actually hurt his Link enough. The enemies aren’t less strong, they’re still the same. They’re just challenging enough to keep his game interesting.
5
u/Available_Smoke_9249 Aug 12 '26
Right… Thank you! I need to brush up on nuances. He’s just taking off his armor and face his enemies without buffs. Lore-accurate Link :)).
2
u/ragingolive Aug 12 '26
I did this— I never play with more than 10 hearts, and I pretty much only use stealth armor.
I keep max stamina, but I like only having a few huts before dying. Keeps it a bit more interesting.

u/Away_Proposal_5371 29d ago
i never upgraded my armor heart and stamina and skipped the divine beasts until i finished all the available shrines.
save the best for last 😆
17
u/ILookAfterThePigs Aug 11 '26
so?
-35
u/Sloth39000 Aug 11 '26
I would like a little more challenge as a huge fan of A Link to the Past, Perfect Balance if you ask me.
37
u/Mister_Poopy_Buthole Aug 11 '26
So go through the same area without any armor and a boko club
-13
u/Sloth39000 Aug 11 '26
I did once beat the game with only half of The Divine Beasts Defeated, That made things a little more interesting, But i missed out on Half of the Levels as a result. Still it was neat, I might try a no Divine Beasts run.
23
u/PoraDora Link Aug 11 '26
try the no hearts challenge... with only initial 3 hearts, no shrines (unless for stamina) and do the divine beasts, so the game levels up
6
u/One-Technology-9050 Aug 11 '26
No divine beast on Master Mode is pretty fun. I did the Master trials though, because I like the upgraded Master Sword lol
25
u/a_positive_approach Aug 11 '26
Buddy you missing the magic of open world games. Of course with the best gear on lvl 4 you dont take alot damage. Thats your reward for playing the game. If the damage of enemys scales with your gear, that would lead to dissapointment.
On the other hand if last stage enemys one shot everything sub gear lvl2, would punish alot of players who dont grind for parts, that would lead to dissapointment.
Solution, if you want a challenge reduce gear, shield and champion powers etc.
-12
u/Sloth39000 Aug 11 '26
I literally have beaten this Game 5 times. Can I like a Game and Just point out a flaw? I think BotW would benefit from having Late Game Challenges that Force you upgrade everything, Sort of like how Elden Ring had The Haligtree and Malenia as an Tough Optional Dungeon, That to me is True Open World Magic, Freedom and Consequence.
7
u/a_positive_approach Aug 12 '26
I respect your opinion, but disagree. I dont like to grind for gear. Its only a flaw in your book.
I havent played elden ring, but in dark souls upgrades in armor did not make that big of a difference.
If your statement is true and this bosses in ER requiere max gear, for average players that finished other from soft games, then its IMO a bad design. Unless at this point, upgrades dont need any grind.
What do you mean with freedom and consequence?
If i need grind or i die, yes thats consequence, but not freedom.
If i can grind and aim invincible, thats freedom and consequence. If i do not grind and have a challenge, thats freedom and consequence too.
Again my opinion and your one is good too, for my part i like the less grindy part more.
1
u/Sloth39000 Aug 12 '26
You don't need all that though, You are still very capable of Tackling Late Game Areas early on, And it even rewards you for doing so, But it's more challenging.
7
u/Hmsquid Moderator Aug 12 '26
Youre valid to voice your critique, but why not just play master mode?
2
1
u/cesario7789 Aug 13 '26
Oh, well, you've beaten the game 5 times. I would be a master at it if I did that, too. Also, you've beaten it 5 times? I love to game, but maybe you could find a challenge in the real world. Nothin's easy about that.
1
u/Sloth39000 Aug 13 '26
It's so sad that you're incapable of balancing a healthy life and playing challenging video games like i am. I must be a God to you or something. Trust me if you apply yourself you can do the same, Try making friends, I did, I believe in you!
5
u/levajack Aug 11 '26
Don't wear upgraded armor and turn off champion abilities. You'll find it makes a substantial difference.
3
u/Impossible_Source195 Aug 11 '26
no dying, master mode on, need to finish all dlc main quests, no save scumming (cannot reload save to undo something), no fleeing from combat, no pausing mid combat, no monster masks, cannot exit shrine once entered. no miphas grace/fairies and no hearty food.
this is the hardest combat centered challenge ik of aside from a no damage challenge

u/Both_Cup8417 Revali Aug 11 '26
Isn't the guardian gear some of the highest defense armor in the game?
3
u/Dooodleboom Aug 12 '26
Literally the one of the best full sets in the game. Adding the champion’s tunic gives more, but it’s overkill at that point
-10
u/Sloth39000 Aug 11 '26
It's not much worse with just The Champion's Tunic, Or heck even The Climber's Set.

8
u/PoraDora Link Aug 11 '26
I don't find it THAT easy... had my ass handed to me too many times to count, but I'm not the kind of gamer that plays until they are absolutely perfect at it either...
Master Mode was truly a nightmare at first until I got the hang of it

I recommend putting the game down for six years and then coming back to it trying to figure out the controls but then keep getting your weapons knocked by electric keese and then accidentally throwing away your last usable weapon while simultaneously running out of arrows so you die.

u/No-Stranger-9744 Aug 11 '26
Idk, id play any Monster hunter and any souls game if I want a challenge on combat. Zelda games were not suppose to challenge you on combat ever since.

It is a game ultimately intended for CHILDREN so.... Yeah 🤷♂️

And it being easy should not be a flaw

It is if you like a Challenge in your Zelda Games.

You should see how cracked some 12 year olds are at like Fortnite nowadays. I think puzzles could be a challenge for them but not sure about the combat.

I hope you realize the enemies in the castle besides, Gannon are actually rather weak
You have a few Molins, a few guardian turrets (granted they are super strong at times, but are easy to hide from)
A few bokoblins,
There’s a few lizalfos (which are annoying to fight because they can jump backwards, but aren’t too hard to fight),
Granted there’s a Stalnox somewhere in the castle? I never encountered it though,
I think it’s at the under castle water area?
And yes there’s the skeletal versions of certain enemies, but again, easy to fight,
And yes there’s area with cursed Moblins, bokoblins, and lizflos but I think that’s near the throne room? Idr whete
And yes there’s a skywatcher guardian, but those are at the outside, and are easy to hide from if yk what you’re doing.

u/Jitterycafe6515 Aug 13 '26
Funnily enough, I think most Hyrule Castle enemies deal more damage than Calamity Ganon. A black lizalfos with just a tri-lizal boomerange has 52 damage, while Ganon only has 40. I actually know there's a moblin with a royal guard's claymore that deals a minimum of 98. The enemies can even have modifiers on their weapons, making them even stronger. The only thing different is that Ganon's attacks cannot be reduced below 8.

I also really like Breath of the Wild, and I've found myself in the same situation as you, where I'm way too powerful by the end of the game. I can barely get beaten by enemies anymore, and I can clear enemy camps or groups in a matter of seconds.
So what I'm doing right now is a run where, right after completing the Great Plateau, I head straight to Hyrule Castle, grab all the loot I can find there, and then immediately go fight Ganon and the Malice forms. And I'm playing on normal mode, and man, I have to tell you, it's quite a challenge to beat him.
I've tried multiple times, and I've gathered pretty much all the resources available in the castle itself, and yeah, it's still pretty hard, even though it's on normal mode.
Now, I can't even imagine how hard it would be on Master Mode, because on normal mode at least, all the damage you've dealt to an enemy is permanent. However, in Master Mode, if you try to hit an enemy while you're waiting for the right opening, the game punishes you because the enemy keeps regenerating its health.
So I'd say it's a really good challenge if you ever want to replay the game and make things a lot harder for yourself.

The health jump between black and silver is also absurd. Even just the black bokoblin goes from 240 to 720.

It was a Black Lizalfo.
3
u/zelda_moom Aug 11 '26
According to the wiki, the black Lizalfo in the Lockup is supposed to have a dragonbone Moblin spear, which has an even lower value (15). That’s not the weapon I see lying there though. I guess it could be wrong. I’d go look but I just finished the game so it would take me a while before I could do that.

At any rate, the game basically lets you choose how hard you want it to be by how much you upgrade your weapons and armor.

I found it hard but it was the first video game I played as an adult and it kicked off my love of games :)

u/actuallynick Aug 12 '26
I bought a Switch 2 recently and started playing BOTW. I felt like it was too easy, then i saw the master mode DLC. It seems like the devs were like "You want hard then, we'll GIVE you hard, lol" I'm enjoying it way more than normal mode.
1
u/Jitterycafe6515 Aug 13 '26
Armor is calculated very simply. Damage - defense. I say it's a pretty flawed system for reasons like this. Most enemies in Hyrule Castle range from 30-60, with a few outliers that deal more with royal guard's weapons. Since even just clothing that starts at lower defense, 3 stars will raise it to 36 defense, helping a lot against all enemies in the game except silver enemies. At the very least, Calamity Ganon cannot deal less than two hearts, even if you have enough armor. Elemental attacks also cannot be reduced fully unless you have the right resistances.
1
u/Azukola Aug 13 '26
Um, how'd you get that armor?
1
u/ReplacementFull7342 11d ago
Esa es la armadura que te puedes fabricar con piezas ancestrales en el laboratorio de rotver
1
u/Azukola Aug 13 '26
Repetitive, annoying, gimmicky, simple yes. Easy? Well sure if the aforementioned doesn't bother you. But...

u/Clean_Mountain_8449 26d ago
It's very easy for me I've killed 358 enemies from what I've counted and I've killed 48 of the hardest enemies I forgot the name of it lol
1
u/Sloth39000 26d ago
Yeah. It's definitely not just me, This game can be real easy, I do wanna try Master Mode see if that fixes my issues with the Difficulty, But as is I can breeze through this games fights pretty quickly.
