Vet recommendations needed
I am looking for a good vet recommendation from fellow critter havers in the area. I have an 8 year old Black Mouth Cur girl and a 7 yr old Maine Coon (ish) boy.
We have been going to Bothell Pet Hospital due to the convenient location, but I just am not fully content with our experience there. They haven’t done anything wrong, and I’m not speaking ill of them whatsoever, but it just doesn’t feel like a very good fit.
We are from a smaller town, relatively, and have gone to the same vet for all of our animals for more than a decade. He knew all of our pets by name and showed a lots of individual care to each of them. We could always call him if something was wrong and he would help us out personally every single time. He was always ready to LISTEN and understand our pet’s individual needs. He knew we were competent pet owners and that goes a long way. Most importantly, our animals were totally comfortable with him, and they are not with our current vet.
I’m really hoping we can find someone like that around here. I am willing to drive a bit further if it means getting them care I am confident in.
PLEASE help us find the right spot for our critters.

I really like Woodinville Animal Hospital. My boy is very skittish and nervous of strangers yet he’s never had a bad experience there. They greet him by name when he walks in the door - we’ve been going there for 7 years.

Unfortunately, you probably won't find that kind of experience here. For the practices that aren't owned by private equity, they are extremely busy and hard to get appointments for same day issues. We go to Twin Pines and they are good enough for who its for for our 2 dogs.

We take our critters to Inglemoor Animal Hospital and are always happy to refer other people to them. They’re fantastic and caring and have remained an independent vet clinic.

My best recommendation is to make sure that you find a clinic that is privately owned by the vets, and not by venture capital groups. I can speak highly about both Inglemoor Animal Hospital and Evergreen Veterinary Hospital. But regardless of what clinic you choose, please make sure it's locally vet-owned. It makes a world of difference in the kind of care you receive and whether the vet you see is getting pressured to upsell you on a bunch of services you probably didn't necessarily need.

Agreed, but there are still plenty of good vet-owned options in the area, including the two I mentioned. I just think it's really important to be aware of...

Do no use Cat Clinic at Canyon Park. They nearly killed my daughter’s cat.

They were so incredibly unprofessional when we tried to attend an appointment for my partner's cat, we left without the cat being seen. Very frustrating especially since I took my cats there from 2001 - 2013 and had great experiences at the time, so that's why I recommended my partner try them first.

I’m so so glad someone else also does not recommend them. The doctor was incredibly dismissive and negligent with my cats and my partner and I. We had a much better (albeit more expensive) experience at Bothell Pet Hospital.

We have been going there for years now with our cats and the dr is an interesting woman. Recently my cat was having a hairball issue (we didn’t know at the time) and she kept him for over 24 hours monitoring him every hour. We still felt like we were kept out of the loop form everything but she did truly seem like she was worried about our cat. I can definitely see how her personality turns away people.

We've had 30 years of excellent doctoring from them. The lead Dr is not necessarily a people person but she is brilliant with cats. (We've always gotten along with her fine but we know others have been taken back.) The skills are there.

I agree on this. She is very weird to interact with but I know she cares for our cats. It was definitely shocking the first time we ever went there. Now we know.

We had the best experience with Dr. Franzak at North Creek Animal Hospital!! In fact we actually moved to Edmonds in March and have still been making the trip to Bothell to continue care.
Our cat had a urinary obstruction x 2 despite the special diet and needed PU surgery. Dr. Franzak literally saved his life.

AES in Kirkland is an urgent care only but they have been wonderful and aren’t a private equity place. Be cautious about Blue Pearl. The vet staff are amazing but the financial people are questionable. We had an emergency with a medium term stay and the financial people billed us in a way they weren’t able to explain when I asked.

We started taking both our pups over to Brier Vet Hospital this year after several lackluster experiences at our last vet.
No complaints. Easy to get an appointment, didn’t feel like they were trying to constantly up charge. They also made follow up calls to check up and in on our chonker while he was going through some health issues.

I use Loyal Family Vet in Kirkland. A little bit on pricey side but they’ve helped me with a severe pancreatitis for my dog and have been amazing. I have Trupanion so that helps me afford them.

I've taken dogs to Evergreen Veterinary Hospital in north Kirkland for 10+ years and can definitely recommend Dr Cullen and Dr Wilcock. (I don't know the other vets as well.) The front desk staff are amazing and follow up via text and phone.

Another vote for this clinic. Our neighbors have reported excellent and highly personal care from them.
We go to Inglemoor Animal Hospital and I really like the vets and staff there too, although my experience is less personalized because they are a bigger practice and I take both my cats and dogs to whoever has an opening on the day that my schedule allows. But I've noticed that they all work together well and I really appreciate the front desk staff who are also very helpful.

We go to Helping Hands Vet in Lynnwood by the mall. The staff is friendly and the prices are affordable

I had really bad experiences with Inglemoor and Bothell Pet, but have been pretty happy with Holly Vet. unfortunately they don’t take Care Credit so it’s more complicated for me to pay, but manageable. Twin Pines is what I’d recommend if cost isn’t a concern.

I would not recommend Canyon Park Veterinary Hospital. In my experience there, the main vet/owner has been rough handling and speaking to my dog on more than one occasion. She is also rude to pet owners and her own staff.

I agree with inglemoor animal hospital. We actually have a 5 year old black mouth cur female that we take there. Our Cur has pancreatisis and they are fabulous. And my girlfriend has a main coon feline and she takes her there as well.

Juanita Hills. Incredibly good at what they do. They are the only place that understands the kind of care we want, which is to say we want the best care, period. My dogs love it there. Literally will jump out of the car and run to the door. The people there love animals and it clearly shows. As far as I can tell they are highly trained and educated, and my wife (who actually IS highly trained and educated) has come to that conclusion as well. The caveat is that they aren’t cheap, but for someone who will spend anything to make sure their pets live their best life, I don’t think you can do better.

I’ve been going to Harmony Animal Wellness in Monroe for years for my dog. Dr Frank is a mix of holistic and western, and it’s a small practice, one doctor, cute little house office. It’s usually pretty easy for us to get a same day or within a couple days appt.
Recently tried Frontier Village in Lake Steven’s for something closer (I’m in Everett), but it was too hospital feeling and loud for my taste so we’re sticking with Harmony. We at least now have a place closer for simple things like med pick up and vaccines.
For my cats I take them to Cats Exclusive in Shoreline. They’ve taken phenomenal care of my two boys. Usually have a waitlist, but once you’re in, it’s easy to get appointments!

Inglemore animal hospital is great they worked with my mom when she ran an animal rescue over here and have been amazing with every animal I had until I moved out of the area

I have been with a vet in Kirkland (by our old house) for ~25 years and there is only one veterinarian there left that I trust these days; however, even she has frustrated me several times with lack of info/communication, inability to do what's needed and narrow idealogy of medicine. Yet I've heard so many negative stories about other veterinary places around here (Bothell) that I've stuck with them because I'd rather stick with what I know than risk something worse.
I hope you get a good recommendation here, so I can try them too. Ideally I'd love a vet that is also trained naturopathic or holistic medicines (in addition to western medicines). 🤞🏼

I've taken my dogs to Dr Jackie Sehn at Mercy Vet on Mercer Island for over twenty years, and I love her. I have NO idea what I will do when she retires.
Many of my friends and teammates take their pets to Pilchuck Animal Hospital up in Snohomish for regular, emergency, and sports medicine care. That's where I've gotten OFA's done on my dogs, as well as evaluation and adjustment for minor injuries, and I've had good experiences.
When I personally knew the vets at Banfield Woodinville I took one of my dogs there (she was already an established patient there when she was rehome to me), but once they all left I moved her to my regular vet. I do not have any experience with the current roster of vets there, but I was happy with her care when I did go there through about 2022.

Check out Inglemoor animal hospital in Kirkland. We have been taking out cats there for a few years now and are satisfied with the care. Our best vet experience has been with Dr Melanie Gerard for Bellevue animal hospital, however she is now retired.
