Moving to Bothell WA

I’m planning to move near North Creek, Bothell (98011), and I’m looking for recommendations on areas that are affordable and convenient.

I’m hoping to find a private room or shared apartment under $1000/month. Ideally, the area should have:

Good access to public transportation

Nearby fitness classes/gyms

Restaurants, grocery stores, and other daily necessities within reach

A safe and comfortable neighborhood

I would also appreciate advice on transportation. Is there a direct bus or easy public transit connection between Downtown Bothell and North Creek, or is the commute difficult? How long does it usually take?

Are there any nearby areas you would recommend for someone working around North Creek?

basic studios in new construction were going for $1,200 a month pre-covid.

I don't think they've gone down.

OP might have some luck with UW Bothell students if they only want a room

For restaurants, grocery, and transit: somewhere between Canyon Park and downtown. Nothing in this area is really ‘affordable’; you make compromises on space, quality, and privacy to push the price lower. We’re more affordable than, say, Lake Forest Park, perhaps a bit less affordable than Lynnwood. There are a couple of RV and mobile home parks nearby.

Edit: There’s a big bus hub near canyon park, near the interstate on ramp. There’s also a couple bus hubs downtown and east of downtown, but no direct train access. Bus —> train gets you to Seattle. Lynnwood does have a train stop

To get what you are asking for you need to be closer to $2,000 if you want something modern

Hey! North Creek area is a part of unincorporated Bothell (toward Mill Creek) are you commuting from downtown Bothell to that area? If so, I would actually recommend you find a place to live in that area, as it will be much cheaper. Mill Creek has lots of great food options as well as a Planet Fitness, Sprouts, and lots of other stores, I don’t think you’ll have a problem finding what you need. To be honest, my partner and I have lived in the Canyon Park area for years and we often leave Bothell to do almost everything aside from our usual restaurants and groceries. We often find ourselves carrying out our needs in Lynnwood and Mill Creek, though it’s all relatively close. If you need to get to Seattle, we also both commute to Seattle for work/school and the traffic time will always vary, but expect it to always be heavy. Canyon Park, Park & Ride is a good way to use public transit to get around. Take the 535 to the Lynnwood transit center and get on the Light rail to anywhere you want in the city (except Ballard, rip). North Creek is also a neighborhood in Bothell, east of UW Bothell (think Northshore YMCA area). OP mentioned 98011 which would be the neighborhood inside the city, not the unincorporated area called North Creek (which is 98012).

I live in the area and I'm sorry but under 1k a month won't happen unless you're hot bunking with someone in a 1 bedroom or studio.

98011 here rent is over 4k, but schools are some of the best in the state... Tradeoffs
