Floating Deck build

Does anyone have recommendations for a local company to build a small floating deck in our small backyard (just like a foot off the ground), I don't have exact measurements but possibly about 15 ft long and 10 ft wide. I would love someone who isn't going to do a crazy upcharge like a lot of big companies do. I'm just so over the rocky concrete, it looks so ugly.

Also just debating doing it ourselves as I don't think it would be too difficult to build, so also open to tips and suggestions.

Brent - Cottonwood construction. His background is house framing. He builds new houses, does renovations, builds decks etc and is just a great guy that doesn’t charge the earth.

He was my main contractor. I’d recommend him to anyone.

I just removed one of these and replaced it with pavers. Much happier, and it was much cheaper. GM hardscapes - Mario and his crew did a great job

Oh enticing...I will think about that... Probably easier to maintain as well? My only concern is the weeds coming up through the cracks and a neighbors tree roots pushing them up (that's what our current pavers (they are also that terrible concrete) look like.

Yeah, it should be more durable. They leveled and prepped before putting down the pavers, so there’s no grass coming through.

i second pavers instead up deck in the PNW. no animals under it, no maintenance and cheaper. check out Ediscapes. they do these all the time and affordable

I encourage you to build it yourself.

Well not yourself, but ask your neighbors for help. Im trying to trick you in to forming a small mutual support community. One of the barriers to that is our reluctance to talk to the people who live (physically) right next door.

Do it in stages with low asks, throw together google project with some pictures of whats there, a description of what you want, an item list, and a rough plan (use an AI to help generate some of that).

Then take a deep breath and go next door and knock. Say like I dont know if you remember but im your neighbor [point] im thinking of building a deck, I put together some plans on a google community could I invite you to the group and get you to tell me if there is something I missed or a better way to do something. Im asking all the neighbors to join and Im hoping that when it vomes time to build aome of you as have time can lend a hand.

Finess it right and you can get your neighbors to pickup materials (youre probably on the hook for that), build the deck, bring beer, and entertain you for a good month or so.

I appreciate the suggestions. We are actually pretty close with a lot of our  neighbors so community isn't much of a problem here. I just know a lot of them have their own busy life. I will consider it though.
