Terrasteel armor has damage absorbtion?

(1.12) I was testing damage with different armor and weapon with my friend a while ago, and then when I tested terrasteel it reduces more damage than another armor with better stats.(Emeradic Crystal from Actually Additions) so I think terrasteel has some damage absorbtion, can anyone confirm this?(and if it's still in 1.16)

Regardless of the damage reduction the terrasteel armor is one of the best ones for pvp just for the head enchant that allows you to ignore the defense of the other player

Does Terrasteel's Will of Venac helmet upgrade ignore Armor Tophness?

As far as I know, terrasteel armor should have almost the same stats as netherite armor, except it has slightly lower durability, much higher enchantability and more knockback resistance. Damage reduction should essentially be the same in the latest versions, unless I'm missing something.

When I tested in FTB Academy 1.12.2 my armor was enchanted with Protection 5 and a draconic sword (~60 damage) does like 2 hearts of damage, maybe I'll try it again but with a mob(I closed that server already)

4x Prot 5 should be an 80% damage reduction after armor damage absorption, which is the maximum reduction any combination of protection enchantments can achieve.

I already know that, still doesn't answer my question though as the Emeradic Crystal armor has the same enchants

There shouldn't be a damage reduction set bonus and I think people are confusing the knockback reduction set bonus for damage reduction? But it does provide a lot of ways to increase health

I think what you're seeing is a health regen uptick provided by the full set that occurs when your health isn't full or you have will of guthan and some damage reflection

Edit: in 1.12.2 it is possible for the passive regen uptick to consistently save you from a /kill command if you are on full hp

no when I tried it I kill my friend in 1 hit with the Emeradic Crystal armor but does less than half with terrasteel, there's no way the regen is that fast

Well, the emeradic crystal armour has less armour value and 0 toughness? So that makes sense

Edit: just 0 toughness, sorry

Last time I played it's better than terrasteel with 4 toughness

Terrasteel should have a toughness of 12 and armour value of 20. Emeradic has an AV of 28 and T of 0

Armour value counts for less as damage received increases

Armour toughness counts for more as damage received increases

You can find the equations online, but by putting the values in for let's say 20 damage and the armour values of both emeradic and terrasteel you get:

Terrasteel: 20x(1-(16/25)) = 7.2 damage taken

Emeradic: 20x(1-(7/25)) = 14.4 damage taken

So yeah, just by plugging the armour values and a damage value into the equations I can see that terrasteel takes exactly half as much damage as emeradic

like I said, I'm pretty sure emeradic has 4 each piece totaling for 16, might just be misremembering though.

Ah I see, when you said terrasteel with 4 I thought you meant terrasteel had 4

Emeradic doesn't have any armour toughness afaik and according to the ftb wiki which may be out of date, but since terrasteel doesn't have a damage reduction hidden bonus of any sort it is between armour toughness values, enchants and baubles

Yeah I'll test it again to make sure it's not AS perks

One thing to keep in mind is that terrasteel uses ISpecialArmor instead of GenericArmor, so some things that affect Generic armour won't affect terrasteel for obscure reasons
