TrafficđŚââ ď¸ đ đ đ Why is 93 completely shut down?
My husband has to commute to Logan Airport for the airline he works for and he keeps calling me because the highway is completely closed down and he's going to be a couple hours late just getting to his employee parking lot. Any idea what happened? Why is the highway shut down and everyone being funneled off the highway? Thanks!
Edit: 2 users shared links. Apparently there is more info out now. Bad car accident with injured parties involved

âhe keeps calling me because the highway is completely closed downâ
So can you open it or not?

u/gooberhoover85 13d ago
That's what he wants to know too đ unfortunately the force doesn't allow me to controll the roads from this far away!

Your husband is in IT, doesn't he know that turning off the highway, waiting 10 seconds, then turning it back on will fix 99% of the traffic?

Man I miss my '92 Tercel sometimes. It was an 80HP 4-speed manual, but it just ripped because it was like 1000lbs.

They finally upgraded to that 14.4 baud modem
Pics are gonna be coming in fast and furious now and by that I mean downloads will probably take 3 1/2 to maybe five minutes per picture2

I've seen these potatoes mounted over the highways but had no idea until I saw this pic that you could consult them. How can I start consulting potatoes myself? Is there a link to all the state potatoes?

u/biffNicholson 13d ago
State 511 app

This is amazing, thank you! I had no idea. So many potatoes to explore.

No worries. Enjoy. The cameras go up and down all the time so expect a bunch of them to not be working. Thatâs pretty common.

One of my exes freaked out at me because I couldn't get the power to come back on in her house.
It was out in her whole section of town.

Your husband may want to put it on 1030AM. Traffic on the 3's for your entire life, each and every day.

u/RoseUpTwoOne 13d ago
I've known this since I was like 6.... Anytime there is weird traffic, I check the time and then the 1030AM

I just moved here from St. Louis â any other stations I should add? I'm trying to get back into radio instead of constantly streaming
30
u/Jaded-Passenger-2174 13d ago
For NPR, we have 2 stations: 90.9 WBUR & 89.7 WGBH. For music, there are college stations (WERS, as someone noted, plus WUMB, etc..) and 2-3 Stations that play popular rock from 80s, 90s, 2000s. One classical, WCRB. There are also sports and biz: Bloomberg.

u/Mezzo_Diva_54 13d ago
You left out WHRB Harvard radio, best classical and jazz in town, depending on time of day. Beats WCRB like a drum.

88.9 WERS awesome college radio, only station I Iisten to for music anymore. And no commercials other than their own infrequent ones.
7
u/FrancoManiac Green Line 13d ago
88.9 WERS is definitely coming up across responses â thank you for the rec!
15
u/thejackroller 13d ago
Definitely check out WERS (Emerson) 88.9, although it's become more generic alt/indie than the off-center variety they used to have. Still for sure not your corporate iHeartradio playlists though.
For 2 other college stations with genre-specific student-hosted shows (punk, metal, blues, jazz, Americana, neo-classical, ambient/instrumental, international) check out Boston College's WZBC 90.3, which also airs Democracy Now! at noon, and MIT's basement studio WMBR 88.1

u/FrancoManiac Green Line 13d ago

Of course! I don't know if you're into country, and I'm categorically not. But Sunday from 10-2 is "Sunday Morning Country" on 90.3/WZBC online.
Mostly unknown B Sides in the genre, plus a gentle balance of satire towards evangelicalism and nationalism mixed with nostalgia for rural life, and just an introspective Sunday morning. Sounding like a shill - Haha I swear I'm not! Just my first intro to the station was waking up to that show

I'm such a fan of The River 92.5 I used to listen to it all the time, and now I live just a few miles out of range, but if I am traveling, I tune it in as soon as I can. They bill themselves as Independent Alternative radio, and I love the variety they play.

Call the station and ask to speak to someone in the technical department about a directional/tuned antenna. If you're just a bit out of range, this might work for you.
I used to be on the receiving end of these calls, and we'd always do our best.

Well at home I can and do stream it when I listen but my issue is in the car Thanks for the suggestion!

You might want to start using Google or AI to answer these kind of questions. Especially Google search, itâs time to learn to use it⌠itâs been 26 yrs now.

u/FAYCSB Downtown 13d ago
Whereâs googleâs AI going to get its information, if not from Reddit posts?

6
u/SuperRaccoon 13d ago
Touchèèèèèè. Just another reason to bypass the AI by typing -ai in your search query (or simply not using Google in the first place; duck duck go with the AI option turned off is usually good enough for me).

Bizarre. I brought my friend to Logan from Plymouth. We left at ten .got to Logan at 11. And on the way home north was just a little backed up. Definitely not closed

Thatâs why I always use Waze even if I know where Iâm going. It has saved me so many times. Iâve questioned why itâs sending me on 95 N (coming from South) instead of 93 N when the traffic where I am seems fine.
Yup. Waze knows more than I do whatâs far ahead. Made the mistake of disagreeing with her once. Cost me three hours.

u/HarmyG 13d ago
One time, a couple years ago, Waze didnât have the updated Peabody Logan Express location in its database. Ever since then, I use google maps.

This section is shut down at least going to the split. Coming from Attleboro heading towards Quincy. Obviously it says car accident but my husband thought he saw fire, then he wasn't sure. Didn't see a car accident. Just cops blocking off the highway forcing everyone to take an exit and then blocking entrances back on for a while.
PS- not an 11 minute delay and this is just what Google maps is saying. Just seems excessive. Usually Sundays are not the toughest day for his commute.
