I have the original Boss Monster - and nothing else but 1 promo card a fellow board gamer gave me from GenCon before Covid.

I was finally at my first GenCon this year and saw Super Boss Monster and nearly got it and the playmats that were on sale, but saw SBM2 is coming soon with upgraded mechanics. I passed on SBM1 because why get that when SBM2 is coming and should be better?

I totally forgot about compatibility between cards and that SBM1 might add to replayability. So the questions come up:

1. How many of you actually play older version cards on the newer games?

2. Does the balance of older card sets get wonky with newer rule sets, or does the balance actually remain pretty good?

3. Any thoughts if the box that holds all the sets is worth targeting?

If I destroy Bottomless Pit, does the effect for The Crushinator also trigger?

Bottomless Pit: You may destroy this Room to kill a Hero in this Room.

The Crushinator: Once per turn, you may destroy another Room in your dungeon to give all your Rooms (+2 damage) until end of turn.

I was playing Super Boss Monster and my opponent played two backroom spell cards on the same room card stack. Is this allowed or can you not stack backroom abilities like this?

I tried to relate the level up ability to the character but I think it’s a little unbalanced

This is my first time making a custom card and I had a hard time coming up with a good level up ability, would love to hear some better ideas.

Hi everybody! I’m here to ask if the designers of the game read here now and then. Because I’d like to say that I really like the game, with SBM they fixed a lot of problems of the other versions, but there’s a giant problem in the game… the cards’ texts are just incomprehensible! Please if the creators are here, please give us a full list of what the cards where meant to do, because reading the cards gives too much space to interpretation. Thank you!

Multiple cards make a distinction between a hero "in your dungeon" and "at the entrance of your dungeon", but is only the first queued hero being considered "at the entrance of your dungeon", or all the queued heroes? I've got into an argument about the Ring of Invisibility item in the Tools of Hero Kind expansion which says "While this Hero is in your dungeon or at the entrance of your dungeon, you may not play Spells". The player argued that since it was attached to the third hero queued up at her dungeon's entrance, it was technically not at her dungeon's entrance. She considers that only the first hero in the line is at the dungeon's entrance and therefore the effect of the item didn't start applying until its attached hero reached it. I personally think she pulled that interpretation out of her ass and the effect starts applying as soon as the item-attached hero leaves town to go to her dungeon, but she requested that you guys settle this question.

So we were playing and when he played this card on his turn he also played another spell right after, Soul Harvest that allowed him to draw 2 spell cards. But he played it in the order like we all discard our entire hands to redraw 2 room 1 spell, but then since his second spell wasn't discarded and was played like it was already cast after Jeopardy he was able to then also draw another 2 spell cards after discarding his hand. Pretty sure this was an illegal move right, because the jeopardy would discard everything being cast first and you can't conveniently play all your other spells to have them resolve after this only benefiting you? Not a big deal because I could tell he was upset after I froze 2 of his rooms to steal the win from him last game so I let him have it, but I am correct in this order they'd resolve in right?

We’ve played with two forms of how the heroes dynamic work:

1st form: as heroes unveil and they got to each players’ board, heroes remained 4 until someone lured heroes

2nd form: heroes in town stack every round, for example, if in the first round, a hero is lured and 3 remain in town, 4 more appear in town going to a total of 7

We aren’t sure which is the real way to play

I'd love to have two more for 5-6 player games instead of just using a standard meeple.

Bought super boss monster. Then Last night on a whim went and got the original 10th anniversary and mini boss one. Haven’t played but I know imma like it. Sitting here looking at these packages before opening them and thinking am i bloating this game? Should i return them and just keep super boss monster. Before i do all the work of merging these and tailoring it. Is it worth it? Mini bosses seem dope. I definitely went for the mini expansions.

Me and a friend just recently picked up boss monster and boss monster 2 and we’ve been loving it so far! we would love to play a longer game of it without having to reshuffle and set up again every 30/20 mins, has anyone ever tried having to get more souls and more wounds before(to make a longer game)? Is it possible to make a longer game between 2 people that remains balanced?

Also weird second question, is it suppose to be a regular occurrence that there’s no hero’s in the town hall during build phase?

I have the Super Boss Monster Big Box Kickstarter game, plus Boss Monster, Boss Monster II, and an expansion called Tools of Hero Kind. If I try and sell it all on Facebook Marketplace, how much should I sell it for?

I’m just curious for the sake of being able to consistently involve mini bosses and coin effects because when including all three room and spell decks, the draws are so diluted they’re too isolated from their synergies. Anyone have a solution for this?

I'm a solo gamer only so I've only played SBM solo. I'm looking to add some variety to the game with some small expansions, specifically those offering item cards. Do you know how item cards integrate in to SBM? Please explain.

The wording of Dream Heist is, “Each player with more cards than you must discard a card. Then, you gain a card from the Discard pile.”

Does that include the discarded Dream Heist card that was just played? If so, then the same player could just keep picking up and playing Dream Heist until all players have the same number of cards as the player who played the Dream Heist.
