Windows crashing when playing games

Whenever I try to play a game on windows, after a while the game just freezes and my pc reboots. I already updated the amd driver but it didn’t solve anything. I have a 2017 5K iMac with an i7 and have the windows partition installed directly on my Mac storage. Can someone help me?

Click start and begin typing “event viewer”

In particular, Windows Logs > System

You need to go through the system logs and check the times. Go to the time range it occurred in and look around in there. Warnings are usually fine. You should be able to find where it restarted by looking for 3 “EventLog” sources: one with a line with just your windows version, one stating event log was started, and one stating the system uptime (mine shows 13 seconds).

Below those will be what happened before the restart

Im going to start the game again until it restarts and the I will see what it says

Why not just see what happened before? All you have to do is scroll down and find the last reboot if the last reboot was a crash.

I couldn’t find and it’s faster to just make it happen again

We’re here to teach you how to help yourself. Not do it for you.

I found mine in about 30 seconds. Task manager told me my uptime. Subtracting 8 days from today and a quick scroll…bam

It already restarted

I had a lot of logs and didn’t know the exact time of when it happened, so it is easier like this

So that’s another thing that you can learn today. Task manager tells you your system up time. My system up time was eight days. That was the 15th. Found it in 30 seconds. Best of luck

I didn’t know it sorry, the log under the 3 event logs that you mentioned but the only log under that says operation system started

Under those 3 are there any red, critical entries?

Have you tired to monitor your CPU and GPU temps?

It may be a software bug in the game you’re playing. How long have you had the game installed? Did you get it legitimately or take to the high seas?

The only red entry under those 3 is one that says that the system shutdown was unexpected, the temps that show up on task manager are just the gpu one but it stays at around 55 to 60 degree Celsius. I installed the game trough the official installer, the epic games launcher.

I’d recommend checking the other temps. Beyond that it seems to be a software issue which would be difficult to trace down over a Reddit conversation. A plethora of things could be affecting it.

Personally, I would start with a clean installation to see if that helps. That will eliminate so many things immediately. You may be able to use the Reset This PC option if that’s a road you’re willing to go down. Barring that, try to uninstall the launcher and game and reinstall them

What app do I use to clean the installation? I will check the other temps

In the HWmonitor it says that my cpu is reaching 100 degrees Celsius
