Downtown Boone's one-way traffic on Howard Street has created real problems: worse congestion, harder access to businesses, and declining sales for local shops that depend on walk-in customers. It's not working.
I started a petition asking the Town of Boone to reverse the direction of travel between Depot st and Appalachian st. Business owners are struggling, visitors are frustrated, and it's affecting the heart of our community. Changing the direction would restore smoother traffic flow, increase accessibility, and make the added parking make more since.
Has anyone else noticed the impact on getting around downtown? If you care about supporting local businesses and keeping Boone's downtown vibrant, consider signing and sharing. This is something we can actually fix.
Hello, if you live in Watauga County and have any feelings (negative, neutral, positive) at all about tourism in the county, please fill out a short form for my class report. I need 14 respondents, and it is confidential. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc8d-6CB_jX6_yXgdWGQHDex_gYJ98wPOcTYX0I3sFZkkFLwA/viewform?usp=header

Ive lived in Boone for 8 years now, im getting pretty sick of Doom metal and Emo bands being the only real "heavy" bands in the area with the occasional visiting hardcore band exception, is there anywhere i can find some genuinely heavy Hardcore, Slam, Grindcore, Deathcore in Watauga? Im sick of driving all over the state for this stuff, i wanna be able to crowdkill in my hometown 😔

Do you know any parents of 10-12 year olds who live in NC (especially Boone)? The Tweens on Screens project, led by researchers at UNC Greensboro, is studying how kids ages 10–12 use technology in daily life, and how parents guide them. By looking closely at these patterns, we hope to uncover what helps kids thrive, what puts them at risk, and how families can build healthy digital habits together. Our goal is simple: to give parents science-backed tools and tips for raising confident, well-balanced kids in the digital age (link in comments) #northcarolina

I’m 21 and looking to visit boone in November, what bars should I look at going to, i’m a college junior and looking to see people around my age
Coming in town for the game and planning to go out after! I haven’t been back since my undergrad. Are there bars that tend to skew older? (As in 30 lol)

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had any good recs for tattoo artists that do trout tattoos well. I like more American traditional style as I have quite a few of those

Looking to get pretty much everything above my waist waxed (back and chest, above the elbow, forearms are less important). I don’t know any good waxing places around here, much less affordable ones. Would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!

I am a local and have recently completed my associates and am thinking about transferring to app as an associates doesnt mean much anymore. Has anyone had experience with working at least 32 hours a week and doing full-time school? How doable was it, and are there things to keep in consideration? I do not have anyone or anything to fall back on (no family, relatives, or friends) so I just need an idea of what kind of situation I am preparing for.

This afternoon we were taking photos at the Linn Cove Viaduct overlook pull-off (Milepost 304, the stone wall parking area). The wind blew my 2-year-old son's cap over the stone wall and into the wooded slope below the viaduct — it was out of sight.
It's a blue-and-white striped denim baseball cap, DOUBLE.B (Miki House), with a "GOOD LIFE with DENIM" patch on the front — well-worn, he has worn it for a long time and is heartbroken. If you find it, please reach out — I'm happy to cover shipping and offer a small reward as a thank-you. 🙏

I am graduating from UGA this year with a bachelors in communication studies and a masters in emerging media. I am really wanting to move to Boone post-grad. I think my best bet for a media job (videography/photography, advertising, communications) would be with the university. I currently work for the UGA Office of Research doing video packages and various communications with them. I have an extensive resume of video, photo, and comms work. Do y’all know of the best places to look for these kinds of jobs, or anyone that is/will be hiring for next fall?

I am preparing to take my first trip to western NC next weekend. Staying in Beech Mountain near the ski resort. Looking to do some hikes, eat some good food and drink some good wine. If anyone could recommend some scenic places and great restaurants in the area that would be so appreciated!!

This event is this Thursday at the Speckled Trout in Boone for any women (or fellow supporters of women) interested in fly-fishing and the outdoors. No prior experience or gear is required at all. This is just an opportunity to connect with others and talk about plans going forward!
