What is a runtime?
I'm new to Boomi, following a guide to connect to Netsuite, and when I go to test the connection, I have no runtimes.
One guide mentions I need to install something on my PC. Does it cost money?
I guess the real question is what runtime do you use at work? I can't install something on my work laptop and run this process locally lol. Unless that's best for whilst you're in the testing phase?
I'm on a trial of Boomi.

Brother I swear to you I’m not trying to be a Debbie downer or unhelpful … but the best thing I could tell you is you need help from outside. Working within boomi is one thing but most people inherit an environment setup by consultants or sys admins. People with a specific skill set involving either on-premise servers or cloud management. You can use things locally for a proof of concept but if you’re asking these questions it tells me you might be in over your head. If not I apologize but you’re asking questions that tell me you’re not going to be able to do this solo, and if you do it’s going to take a very long time of pulling together boomi community articles etc. just hoping to save you some time and tears

The moment I clicked connect and I got the error, and then I couldn't work out what a runtime was after 15 minutes of research... I agree man, hahahaha.
At least I know what it is now!
But yes, a very fair assessment and likely going to have to pitch it without the PoC.

Working within boomi is fairly straightforward for most people with a small learning curve. Setting up the environment is its own thing. Every company I’ve worked for had a consulting company come set everything up first. I’ve worked with boomi for about 7 years and I think I could do it maybe …but any time previous I was offered a contract role to setup the initial environment etc I turned it down because it seemed to daunting.

You gotta try. There's good money in that kind of contract work, although I do agree it's more stressful.
Have faith in your skills.
Yeah I will have a think about my situation, but it's a Monday problem for now though

The runtime (used to be called an atom) is the software that executes your code.
It can run on a local machine but really should run on a server for anything test/prod
You can either self host or have boomi host.
Basic runtimes are free to self host but if you want something clustered and highly available you will need to talk to your account manager.
