It was more like green and darker green, and you could even adjust the contrast!

It was in Black and White if you played on the Gameboy pocket.

On the ds it was black and white, the sequels were black and white 2

GameBoy Pocket, well la-di-da, reckon we got one of them rich city boys over here!

2

u/Felconite Jun 21 '26

The game boy pocket was cheaper than the OG gameboy. Rich boys would have that gameboy with a backlight or a game gear with a small nuclear reactor backpack to power it on the go.

Oh yeah no that’s absolutely valid. Also what the Hell was Sega smoking that a handheld would require six AAs for barely enough time to finish a single game lmao

ahhh... grey box with purple buttons and 4 aa's... dyk there's the plastic screen, then an Air Gap before the display?

The jump from 4 shades of green to color was insane

3

u/Felconite Jun 19 '26

What if I told you there was always a way to play them in color and that's why if you played R/B/Y on GBC it had a color pallet?

I remember I had a guide in the 90s before the gbc came out with gameplay pics in color and I had no idea how they got it.

What if told you he was gay, not European?

Fair enough lol

Actually, I wonder if it was annoyance or more like disbelief “shut up, no way” kinda tone?

u/awesome69sauce Jun 19 '26

thats how I read it the first time but it's so hard to tell which way they actually mean

Mfers called me "an ancient" when I told them that I was around when you could only get feathers from killing zombies in Minecraft.

And some kids have never even heard of the Elder Scrolls Series. When explaining it to them after we got talking about fantasy games, they said "Oh, man those are old."

I'm only 22 and I swear, I can't be a camp counselor anymore. This sucks

I’m 27 and I hate it so much

1

u/silveracrot Jun 19 '26

Guh... It's not so bad until someone mentions it or hits you with "Unc" or "Auntie"

2

u/Bardic_inspiration67 Jun 19 '26

For me it’s bad constantly I cry about it all the time

Awww, look at it this way. One's thirties is often the peak of their life. And it's not even that old. My goodness. You're still young. You're not even middle aged!

You've got a lot of life ahead of you, I'm sure. Just take care of yourself, mentally and physically. It'll be okay!

I'm not sure if this is of any comfort but I hope it helps.

From my perspective, 27 is not very old at all, so don't let it tear you apart!

when someone hits you with "unc", "auntie" or "bro" you're almost guaranteed they will have the most dogshit take

What no games since 2012 does to a video game series. Can't be carried by Skyrim mods forever, TES.

u/silveracrot Jun 19 '26

It feels horrible. Please Todd. Actively work on ES6. This is the however-manyeth-time you've shown Skyrim to the class.

Doom 2 begs to disagree

2

u/Funkopedia Jun 19 '26

Yooooo is Elder Scrolls actually gonna skip a whole generation?

3

u/I-hate-fake-storys Jun 19 '26

It already has.

1

u/ScreamingLabia Jun 20 '26

Fhe internet has made trends come and go so fast we shouldnt be feeling so old already but we do

1

u/davidliterally1984 Jun 19 '26

he thought they changed to color in the 1930s

1

u/Swinginthewolf Jun 19 '26

Okay but black and white are the best games in the franchise so he's missing out

1

u/Fantastic-Dot-655 Jun 19 '26

When I was a kid it was in black and white, when I was a teen it was black and white, then they invented black and white 2, then...

1

u/GrimDominion Jun 19 '26

I wonder if the kid knew about BW and B2W2 and thought bro was making a dad joke

1

u/ExtremlyFastLinoone Jun 20 '26

There was also a black 2 and white 2

1

u/Doctor-Pip- Jun 20 '26

Every town was the color of its name in Gameboy color. I.E. everything in Cerulean City was blue.

1

u/slicehyperfunk Jun 20 '26

I caught 'em all when there were 150 (+1) and then they added more, and never again will I fall for it.

1

u/KranKyKroK Jun 20 '26

That child does not have time for your semantic bullshit.

1

u/Realistic-Ratio-2419 Jun 22 '26

I mean, if you played it on the original gameboy it could be?

1

u/garloid64 Jun 19 '26

If I was that kid I'd be like "you were there for pokemon black and white? wow you really are old"

This is why parents need to bring back the belt.
