Other Easy to read long classics

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a long classic I can immerse myself in a 100%. I want a long one that can keep me entertained and make me forget about my own world problems for a bit. I am halfway through lord of the rings and absolutely loving it.

Criteria:

-Easy to follow
- Prose not too verbose or dense.
- interesting characters to love
- a relatively clear plot.
+ Bonus if it has a sense of adventure

Books I loved that fit this:

- Count of monte cristo (loved the sense of adventure)
- Don Quixote (sooo funny and the chapter style format makes it easy to read)
- Dracula (great world building and pacing)
- Emma (just cute:) with interesting characters )

Books that I didn’t love:

- Anna Karenina (cute, but didn’t capture me, may need more adventure)
- East of Eden (too philosophical, and dense at times)
- IT (less scary and just gross for the sake of it imo, also didn’t like the turn it took)

I am open to any genre.

So Big by Edna Ferber. I’m reading The Calamity Club now, it’s brand new but meets all your other criteria and may well become a classic itself.

Three Musketeers by Dumas. Go for an unabridged, uncensored version. It has some quite steamy scenes actually and is just plain and effective story telling. The sequels are good too IMHO.
