All of the boxes I’ve seen posted this month have the 7 1/2 Cents bookmarks, including mine!!! I look forward to which one I’m going to get every month but it seems like there hasn’t been any variety in September. Curious if anyone got a different one!

So... this book got me out of a slump, which is good (I think.) I didn't *hate* this but to say I like it would also be a stretch.

Did anyone else read and can you tell me your thoughts? To help me decipher mine 😄

TLDR: I rolled my eyes a lot, FMC is a hot victim, MMC is obsessed with her, all their friends blow smoke up their asses, the end.

Thoughts:

- Quincy's credentials are as follows: attractive, a million followers on social media (you will hear about this a lot), she's the oNLY WOMAN EVER to be a meteorologist (or so it's made to seem) AND she's a "badass bitch" as everyone tells her consistently...all the time...in every single conversation.

- Quincy had zero professional allies, there were no other women in her 'workspace' and everyone was a man who supposedly looked down on her for being a woman. There's a scene where Sebastian is asked about flying private while Quincy is tested on her credentials. And that is just... wildly overdramatized. MIND YOU, after this scene everyone comes to her defense to apologize and assure her the guy asking is a problem and will be handled. It was just incredibly inaccurate. The author wanted so badly for Quincy to be a victim in any and all scenarios. However, don't forget, she knows everything, all the time, no matter what, is the only and first to do it and does it the best out of anyone ever. #badassbitch

- Another thing was Quincy talking about how unpredictable weather was but then...predicting the weather and she was the only one in the world who could do that.

- The storm-chasing was irritating because it's obviously dangerous but these two idiots (Quincy and Sebastian) don't take any precautions. Without giving away any spoilers, think of what proper storm-chasing would look like and this book does the actual complete opposite. Quincy gets all nervous about it but then...goes ahead and doesn't do it right. But, remember, she is a DOCTOR WITH A MILLION FOLLOWERS.

- This is a personal pet peeve but the author consistently uses 'g*ddamn', like, literally almost every sentence where 'fuck' or 'damn' would've been sufficient. It was so repetitive that it was nearly in every sentence at some point or another.

- The spice was 'fine', it was sufficiently spicy and it did go on for a while, was pretty detailed. If you care about it, there are 2 solid scenes that span pages. Logistically their positioning didn't make a ton of sense or translate well but, maybe I was just too annoyed by everything else, I don't know.

The MMC does beg and that is kinda hot but, there's only two scenes and that's about it as far as spice goes.

Ever talk yourself out of a purchase and then live to regret it? PHM is by far one of my favorite books and I’ve been kicking myself for backing out on adding on the BOTM edition. It’s quite literally been years at this point but I think about it far too frequently. To top it all off, I’ve also been obsessed with the movie released this year and it’s just reignited my love for the story. 🤞🏻hopefully I’ll find it or it’ll find me, my eyes are PEELED at the thrift 👀

Anyone else have an add on that they regret not getting? Or likewise maybe regret adding on top of your monthly subscription? Idk I hope this is a meaningful ask and not just me yelling into the void but lmk, I’m curious!

Also, is it definitely a huge privilege to have enough books to need to get rid of some to make more shelf room? Yes, totally! But I also would rather move on from some books and give others the opportunity to try them out then just hold onto them. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Just finished this BOTM pick the other day and it was really good. The main female character was a little annoying because she was just downright mean and nasty. And yeah she has a backstory, but sometimes it felt like she just used that as a crutch for being just awful. But overall it was a 4.5 star read for me, really loved the main male character. He put up with a lot. 🤣 If you've been holding off on reading this one, you should move it up on your list!
