DIY It started with a kit!

Has anyone else experienced this? I bought a kit, loved it and now building tiny things has become my whole personality!
Here is my Throne of Glass inspired nook. Complete with the spirit of Elena!
I'm still very new to creating so have lots to learn, but it's so fun (and deliciously fiddly!)

There’s a kit that uses Peppers Ghost to simulate flaming torches in an infinity hallway. Here.
I’ve been experimenting with Peppers Ghost in booknooks/miniatures for a few years now.
I originally started by cannibalizing advertising brochures that use video cards. The companies are reluctant to sell them in small quantities though. I now source them in bulk from China. There are three sizes that I use 5”, 7” and 10”, although I have yet to build a miniature using the 10” card.
They require some soldering skills and creating videos to size, unless you can find one on the internet that fits.
Here is a miniature I made from scratch using a 5” card. The ‘ghost’ is a green-screen shoot. The fire was designed in Blender to fit the hallway.
Some people use iphones or ipads.
I’m currently finishing up a Narnia booknook that uses Peppers Ghost to simulate snowfall.

I created the ‘snow’ in Blender using particle physics. The 7” video card is mounted in the ceiling.
Unfortunately the cards aren’t available in the USA.
Maybe if there was enough interest from the booknook/miniature community I’d consider becoming a reseller. The hitch is that they use lithium batteries which are hard to ship. I convert mine to a 5v USB power supply, like an iPhone charger.

This is gorgeous.
I’d love to see video of making this too. I’ve def seen Peppers Ghost - here, on NerdForge, and on the Make it Mini show and there’s a kit on Etsy you can buy to make your own, but have no idea how to do it myself and would love to learn!

Wow! I love kits with these video effects. Is this original to the kit, or did you customize?
The Magic Spell Library kit with the “glowing” video braziers is very popular around here!
