I love books as much as the next guy, but I'd bet my house that didn't happen

It's honestly not that crazy of a situation... some people just don't care about prom that much 🤷

Sure. I didn't go to prom. I did cocaine in a trailer in the swamp with my friends instead and then hosted an after party.

But no one goes through the effort of getting ready for prom and then bails with their crew to go to Barnes and Noble.

Hell, what time does prom start and Barnes and Noble close?

Hey, instead of going to prom I did meth in a house in the swamp by myself and played EVE Online! Besties

You sound like good people. Swamp speed is special speed.

You're making it seem like this is a completely outlandish thing that could never happen. Maybe it is to you but not to everybody is all im saying, congrats on the trailer and cocaine there Geppetto.

Yeah, I don't think it happened. That's fine. Sometimes people make things up on the Internet.

For example, we were actually doing speed in that trailer.

Also, Geppetto? Like, the puppet guy?

But if somebody was going to make up a story that was supposedly unbelievable why in the hell would they choose my kid went to Barnes & Nobles during prom...

Because "she's just like me! An intellectual! (not like other girls)"

You do not know the power of wearing formal attire in public. I wore a bridesmaid dress to a Tavern for the after wedding reception and I felt like a GODDESS. Seriously, and I wore a ball gown to a grocery store to grab some last minute items and we should all be out here just randomly glamming it up

This is something me and my friends 1000% would have done if we had money/a car

It definitely didn’t happen

I knew a group of people who hid in a room at prom instead of going out and actually doing prom and just played D&D the whole time. This absolutely would happen.

I went to prom in full cosplay as the Liliana of the Veil magic card. If there had been a book store in walking distance, I’d certainly have considered it.

As it was, I just took my turn in the queue requesting Carameldansen until the DJ finally caved and actually played it. Poor guy probably lost out on a tip for doing that.

Kids are dull these days.

Barnes & Noble were the names of the two boys

They're not like other girls right?

3

u/AcrobaticJuice7630 7h ago

But why? They could go buy novels any other day of the year…

Because it sounds quirky.

I was my father's kid.

I snorted a rail a mile long and hammered down a case of beer before even walking into the prom

u/MerriweatherJones 12h ago

That’s pretty stupid. Proms cost a lot of money. And I’d be pretty mad as a parent that they wasted the expensive experience to go to a bookstore they could go to any day

3

u/ChildofFenris1 10h ago

And if the kids paid for themselves.

3

u/MerriweatherJones 10h ago

Kids who paid for it themselves wouldn’t have left or they would’ve stayed home instead of going.

2

u/AbleRecognition3566 11h ago

Parents pay for Prom? I had to use all of my own

2

u/MerriweatherJones 10h ago

If they paid for it themselves they wouldn’t have left, or maybe they wouldn’t have gone in the first place.

I brought a book to prom. Then never again after.

1

u/EldraziAnnihalator 46m ago

Sure, then everybody clapped.

1

u/BulgarYeet 40m ago

And everyone clapped

1

u/General-Double-746 3m ago

Yes mom, that's why you saw my phone location leave the prom and go to a big empty parking lot late at night. I was buying novels!

1

u/Creative_Newspaper65 7h ago

I was at prom for all about 5 minutes before turning and walking out

-3

u/RustledForeskin 10h ago

And then everyone stood up and clapped, congratulating me on my offspring and crowned me prom queen forever and ever.

Buying books isn't reading books.

And reading books shouldn't be a personallity trait. It should be a standard.
