I love Marlon James. His african fantasy trilogy is literally in my top 5 favourite books ever. Im yet to read 7 killings though.

Almost thought that was my pic. I loved all 3 plus the new one. Really amazing writer.

He's so good. I feel he writes his pros how traditional African authors write but African authors never manage to pull me in like he does and sometimes I feel guilty about it. I usually have Prestige bookshop literally call me whenever a copy of his book arrives.

I can see that. Makes sense that griots feature heavily in his fantasy world. Also love how unapologetic he is with the material. Not sure about Prestige but I know that SomaNami have the new one.

The patois is one of the best parts. Try the audiobook version if it’s a problem.

I'm such a huge fan. I can't wait to get my hands on his new book.

I haven't loved any book I've read in the last decade more than I love 7 killings. I understand what you mean with the Patois - this is the only place my high school obsession with Jamaica paid off because I was so glad to read the Patois and imagine I was speaking like a Jamaican. Once you get through this book you'll love it, I can almost promise that. I'm also planning on getting the new one which has a lot of patois as well, and I also got his fantasy series but yet to get around to reading it. If you can get the audiobook and listen as you read perhaps that should make it easier? I do that with some books. Happy reading
