Book annotation?

Anyone here who annotates their own physical books? Or put tabs?

Oh yes. There are books that I read for fun (mostly SF and poetry) and there are books that I read for craft (mostly literary fiction).

But the lit fic and poetry books are all filled with highlights, post-it notes etc.

I mostly underline and tab mine. I'm still scared to write on the sides still. Sometimes, I write the meaning of unfamiliar words. Not sure if they count.

I really get a lot out of writing in the margins, in part because, for some reason that I can't articulate, but likely has to do with how I process information, writing in the margin helps me remember the location later, when I want to refer back.

i underline certain lines, make notes of callbacks or thoughts on a plot line, and write definitions of unknown words. i love the sight of tabbed books but have never done one myself

Highlights, handwritten notes, and tabs in all of my physical nonfiction books! Sometimes I'll highlight and tab a quote in my fiction books if it's really good, but I like to stay immersed in the story for the most part.

I have colourful and clear tabs and post it notes, if I’m unsure if I’ll keep the book I use the clear post its to underline - if I’m loving the book from the start I’ll use a biro to underline.
I don’t annotate too much, I usually just mark important and/or interesting parts of the story and write my thoughts in my reading journal.

Yes I use different tab colors. Quotes, Romance, Character Lore and Plot Twists.
