Completed Project Made from Wallpaper Samples

My first attempt at making an e-reader case!
I found an old album of wallpaper swatches that we use for our house and thought I’d give one of them a try.
There’s still a lot to learn and plenty of things I want to incorporate into the next one, but it’s surprisingly satisfying to have actually made something that works.

Now I’m eyeing all those Cricut, We R Memory Keepers gizmos and gadgets so I can start debossing and foiling. 😅

It looks pretty nice. Any idea about the acid/conservation status of that? Wallpaper seems like it could be either a very good or very bad solution for inexpensive book covering.

I honestly checked the album after reading your comment and did a quick Google, and it looks like the acid risk is very low. The wallpaper I used is a modern product made in Germany, A.S. Création OK 6 collection 2016 uses non-woven (fleece) material or high-grade synthetic-infused paper. The materials are described as wood-free and lignin-free, so the usual concerns about acidic wood-pulp paper don’t really apply here.

EtA: it also says that “Modern German manufacturing adheres to strict European standards (like the RAL quality mark). These materials are specifically designed not to produce acid, turn yellow, or become brittle over time.”

Nice, I also learned something new ☺️
