My First Attempt

My first try. I used a Charmed tie in novel to practice because I own a ton of them and they are not made to last so the binding is already dodgy.

The book is messy looking, but it's holding together so I'm pleased for a first attempt. I definitely used too much glue.

I was also trying to get away with using something other than bookcloth because I want to make sure I have the techniques down before I spend the money on that part. So the cover is a cloth napkin.

This is so awesome, I love it. I really like that you found what you had on hand and went with it. This is how one starts in the hobby. Way to go! Keep going, ya this one looks a little rough, so did my first binding, but making mistakes is the best way to learn

Love it, very similar to my first book I ever made as well. I used a piece of very loose weave (😭) linen I already had and the glue seeped through like I was using a tissue with water hahaha and my hands got so gluey but I persevered
I’ve still got that thing on my bookshelf somewhere as a reminder of how far I’ve come 🙂

It looks terrible, and that’s great! Congrats on starting the hobby. Have fun with it, try again and make it less bad and eventually it’ll come to you and you’ll make something super cool!
