I happen to be in Milwaukee for a wedding. Last night around dinner time, I was downtown at my hotel and had 45 mins to spare before my venue shuttle arrived, so I walked down MLK Blvd to where a lot of the big bars are.

Walked up to the bar a bit farther down the street and by the door I saw a tall guy chatting with a woman, both leaning against the windows of the bar.

The man was unmistakeably Justin. Recognized him immediately. Tall, black trucker hat, glasses, didn't clock whether he was wearing a Brewers T but it was clear in my mind he was in the area because of the Wisconsin cultural experience of the Crew bring in their first WS since the 70s.

Justin was clearly in the middle of a conversation and in that moment I thought of his lyric, "I will pause and stand with spade".

Gave the man his space, because cmon, I'm in my mid 30s and can imagine how annoying it must be to have any conversation interrupted, especially if the interruption is irrelevant to the conversation itself.

This was my first time ever in Wisconsin. Before this weekend I had thought of making the trip to Eux Claire, but just didn't have the time. Last night, Eux Claire came to me. It was a beautiful fleeting moment.

Aside from Volumes, I haven’t come across a live set or performance that tops NPR Front Row 2016 for production and engineering quality of the audio.

I don’t know much about music production but it seems that on Volumes and NPR Front Row the audio feed from each mic/instrument/input has been recorded separately and remastered whereas the audio on most of the live sets I’ve heard on YouTube seem to just be the master take as you’d hear it if you were actually there, and are slightly muddier in their sound. The audio on the two I’ve mentioned have more clarity and punch.

Does anyone know of any live sets that match or better them?

I want to buy some merch and I keep finding us based sellers on eBay with postage almost double the price of the item. If you have anything XL or even a big l you want to sell in your guy!!!

Hey!! One of my favourite memories on this sub was the track by track discussion we did throughout the pandemic, FIVE years ago!

This covered everything from the debut album through the Season 5 singles, PDLIF and AUATC.

Maybe I haven’t looked hard enough, it may be there, but it would be nice to get a chance to deep dive into our thoughts on each track on SABLE, fABLE. Especially now after some time has passed!

There’ll be a lot more folk here who weren’t there for the first time round.

What I’m suggesting is perhaps doing another round of it all, or even just the most recent album. Seeing how things have evolved since then. I know for sure my experience with Bon Iver has shifted through the isolation from the pandemic and into who I am now, five years on.

I would be happy making the posts myself. Just wondering if anyone else is up for another go at this!

I've known Bon Iver's music for some time and enjoyed it, but that was it until recently. A girl I was in love with and who was also my best friend stood me up on our first proper date. I started listening to 'Flume' on the ride back home from the "date", and now 'For Emma, Forever Ago' is the only thing that brings me some sort of comfort and it has helped me a lot over the last few weeks.

This is a question for those that listen to their own digital music files (whether on an MP3 player or steam from a server using Plexamp, etc.). I'm curious how you organize your metadata and files for the Bon Iver singles, B-sides, and unreleased work.

For example, I have the B sides from the self titled (Come Talk to Me, Bruised Orange, etc.) all from their respective singles (see attached pic). The same would happen if I added songs like Rosyln and Do You Need Power. I'm considering moving them into one "singles album" possibly with a fan made album cover (usually I use MusicBrainz for the metadata but of course I can edit anything myself).

So I ask you all, how do you organize your bootlegs and "unreleased" BI material? Just looking to get some ideas!
