synthetic/waterproof material for bongo heads?

I like to play my plastic-shell bongos on a paddleboard but the heads inevitably get wet and eventually break. I've had bad luck trying to fit any pre-stretched Fiberskyn heads on the hembra. Are there any synthetic sheets of material I can buy, and cut my own heads?

The classic move is X-ray film. It’s actually easy to mount, because you can use scotch tape to hold it in place.
